I used to run into her when I was making deliveries in Beverly Hills in my college days. My self conscious impression was always that she was completely the person she appeared, not easily found in that town. She was genuinely interested in everybody and upbeat. Carson had an ability to showcase personalities that is completely underrated. He gives Doris a chance to shine

My first crush was on Doris Day. I was about 7, living on Oahu at the time. That was in the mid-1950's. Now I'm seventy-one. Despite her age, Doris' death a week or two ago hit me quite hard. Doris Day. You were an inspiration to millions of people the world over. You will continue to inspire many millions more people in the years ahead through your singing, your films, and your various television appearances. Thank you, Doris!

I worked backstage on the Tonight Show. Would run errands and such for guests as my college part time job. Remember this show very well... Doris arrived about 3 hrs before taping, she was wearing straight leg Levi's Jean's, black and white checkered Van's, a very tight and thin tshirt.. This show outfit was in a small suitcase. She seemed to know everyone in the band and she sang several songs including Teachers Pet and Je Voulais and Birdland... a priceless concert done with her friends in the band... I will always remember her in those Jean's and a styrofoam cup of fruit punch belting out Je Voulais.. Heaven is heavenly more tonight.

@JohnSmith-uy7sv why do you keep saying things like this on practically everybody's comments on here. It makes no sense at all. You are entitled to your opinion of course, but when you are asked about it you can't answer your own comments. If you make a comment and are then asked about it you should be able to justify why you said it and you seem incapable of doing that. And before you say it I know the comment wasn't aimed at any comments I've made. But I'm the only one who is brave enough to pull you up about it.

StraightGate Jones ........ sworn to fun ....loyal to none... the war cry of the advantageous opportunist American woman who is responsible for the destruction of the once most powerful country. in the world.... make no mistake ...they are indeed responsible for their part.... in this overall catastrophe of our people's and our nation..... this equal opportunity for who?..... this country was made great not by people changing dollars... delegating favors on the worth of a metal.... gold is not wealth... gold is metal ...wealth is what the people do.. it's the good inside of the person..... the things that produce the good in society.... the ideas and the actions.... that makes something great........ not by people with outlandish claims of unearned equality ....even though they want to change the world... I believe it's fair and honest to say the only thing they have accomplished...is actually destroying it.. but we're not talking about the politics of women we're just talking about Doris Day.... she had a sweet personality and she was a very pretty young woman and I think she had a lot of good in her.. I would have banged her too.... but she was to old....and. I was afraid of getting diseases.... and crabs.....

Well, she had her son for 62 years. A death from cancer is always sad, no matter how old the person is. But she was blessed with a grandson from her son's marriage, so I would guess she thought that was good. And if there were embezzlement problems in the past, she certainly overcame that because she was able to care for many, many animals over the years, AND was able to afford the upkeep of her beautiful home in California. She was enjoying life right up until the end. At 97. I'd say that was good too. She wasn't laying around waiting to die. She was LIVING! I guess people have different views on what's considered "good".
