I worked backstage on the Tonight Show. Would run errands and such for guests as my college part time job. Remember this show very well... Doris arrived about 3 hrs before taping, she was wearing straight leg Levi's Jean's, black and white checkered Van's, a very tight and thin tshirt.. This show outfit was in a small suitcase. She seemed to know everyone in the band and she sang several songs including Teachers Pet and Je Voulais and Birdland... a priceless concert done with her friends in the band... I will always remember her in those Jean's and a styrofoam cup of fruit punch belting out Je Voulais.. Heaven is heavenly more tonight.

@2323sugar5 жыл бұрын
Well, she had her son for 62 years. A death from cancer is always sad, no matter how old the person is. But she was blessed with a grandson from her son's marriage, so I would guess she thought that was good. And if there were embezzlement problems in the past, she certainly overcame that because she was able to care for many, many animals over the years, AND was able to afford the upkeep of her beautiful home in California. She was enjoying life right up until the end. At 97. I'd say that was good too. She wasn't laying around waiting to die. She was LIVING! I guess people have different views on what's considered "good".

I'm an ol' Texas boy who remembers Doris Day from the mid 1950s & onward. She was a great singer, great actress, and she had one of the sexiest speaking voices I've ever heard. She was hotter than Laredo in July.

this was way past her prime. she looked so different.... were her eyes always cocked a little bit from one another from birth? i don't remember them being that way in her movies, but perhaps i forgot. i believe she was a singer too but mainly just an actress in B movies.

This is Doris. She never bought into show business and is one of the few truly great stars who remained grounded and focused. A lot of the credit goes to her mother, whose reputation was as a grand gal, loved people, loved to chat, when she traveled with Doris to help with her son Terry she was known as "Mom Day" when she was really Mom Kappelhoff.

@@carolegoodwin7287 I never said she could not sing. No one has any idea of what angles sound or sing like ..........in Heaven. No one has ever been there and came back down. A more appropriate response would be... She was an excellent singer with a voice given by the Holy Spirit as the Bible says it is the one and only Holy Spirit who give each of us our gifts and he alone. It's Biblical.
