I deeply appreciate the value Zee places on "spheres" of cultural perspective and broad, cultivated points of view. It's so refreshing, and such an important capacity for any of us to sucessfully face the volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous world we live in today.

**hugs** to Zee! I never heard all of your story coming from Cuba... it was always something mentioned very quickly in the past, so it was very interesting to hear about details about coming to America and all of the pains and headaches that went along with that; we'd have never known you if you chose to stay. That story really got me emotional.

In closing I have to say Thanks to you Timm for Meepleville. Wish I could go more often, but being next to Boulder City it makes it hard. Now I have to watch the Sam and Tom interviews. -John

Thanks Zee for sharing your amazing story. The Dice Tower would not be what it is today without you and your amazing 'Zee Garcia' sense of humour. I would love to hear more about the meeting with Tom. Also how did Zee go to be an excellent board game reviewer? What sort of games did he play in Cuba? Are board games even allowed there? Before watching, I was a little aware of Zee's personal story through watching SO MANY Dice Tower videos. But this interview has been really great. I hoped we would learn about non-gaming stuff, and we did. Not everyone understands that interviewing is less about the questions you think of beforehand and more about listening to the interviewee and going from his answers to have a real conversation. Timm certainly shows he does understand. Thanks to you and Zee for this very entertaining and informative interview!

The first Dice Tower video - possibly the first *board game* video - I ever watched, was the Top Ten Overrated Games in July of 2013 (which means ZG's timeline is closer to six years than five - or maybe even longer!), and the thing that struck me hardest was how *good* Zee Garcia was: organised thoughts, clear diction, really quick & clever improvisation, and *hilarious*. I am not surprised at all he has theatre training! He's been my favourite reviewer since day one, and still is. I think Tom Vasel has gone in that time from being a good reviewer to an excellent reviewer, while Garcia went from great to excellent. That being said, when the TARGET system finally appeared, I was thrilled, because it had always felt like something that was missing in terms of answering the question of how a game measures up against the viewer's own priorities. In particular, I love the simple & direct utility of 'using the Theme to help teach the game' as a ratings metric, but most of all I appreciate the analysis of Game Arc. That wasn't really something I gave much thought to before, even though I was aware of games that petered out toward the end or sagged in the middle, but now that it's been put front and centre I can't remember how I managed without it! Thanks, Timm.
@MeeplevilleBoardGameCafe4 жыл бұрын

I’ve always been a fan of the special features in movies & shows, watching things like: ‘behind the scenes’ or ‘making of’, and having a chance to better understand/appreciate the project. This felt like an engaging, entertaining, powerful, Zee Garcia special feature. That is to say I enjoy dice tower videos, I like Zee’s personality within that space, and this gave me the chance to further appreciate him. Very well done all the way around. Timm you were great as interviewer, and now I’m excited to go through more of these ‘Meepleville Meets’ videos!

This was such a fantastic interview! We've been watching dice tower for about 4 years now, and have met Zee, Tom, and Sam twice at Pax Unplugged. Such genuinely nice guys! It was Shop interesting listening to Zee's story! So glad everything turned out ok for him in the end! I can't even imagine 😔 Thanks Zee for the openness and honesty and vulnerability to share your story! When we are able to connect these kinds of atrocities, suffering, and rising up to real life people, it makes the world seem that much smaller. It helps us to see the suffering of the world differently and in a more personal way. And Tomm, you are a FANTASTIC interviewer! I've never really considered interviewing as a "talent" or a "skill"... but you definitely have a gift for getting to know people and their stories. Cant wait to watch the rest (so far I've seen Zee, Tom, and Sam). 😊
