A big day out in the Western Ghats, Kerala, India. It started with a jeep journey from our base in Munnar, then a pedal up and then a steep push and climb, before some more ups and downs and finally the summit of Meesapulamalai aka The Tiger's Moustache.
According to Wikipedia: "Meesapulimala is the second highest peak in the Western Ghats of Idukki district on the Indian subcontinent after Anamudi. Its peak is 2,640 metres above sea level."
A truly stunning landscape and made all the better by the fact that we weren't afforded any views from the top as cloud was filling the landscape. Yes, we were above the low lying cloud which seemed trapped below - amazing. Interestingly this was the second time that I'd encountered this phenomenon. A few years ago we were across the valley at Kolukkumalai and we experienced the same low-lying cloud. Amazing. Perhaps the light was better the first time, nevertheless it is a sight to behold.
The riding was pretty good too. Form me, perhaps not as good a descent as Kolukkumalai. The vistas might be better but maybe not the riding. It's a shame when I rode Kodaikannal the other year it was raining and we didn't film it. Definitely the best descent I've done in the Western Ghats for sure...
Nevertheless they are all good and I highly recommend you look up my old mate Mike at www.mountainbikekerala.com he's a legend and all round good guy and no one knows mountain biking in this region better than him.
If you email him please tell him you heard about him through my video.
Thanks for watching…
