I looove isopods. The ones I have currently are zebra, clown, reds and dairy cow Isopods! Ones I recommend (and that I also personally want to get in the future) are Armadillidium magic potions and Porcellio hoffmanseggi. Magic potions are very pretty and breed quite well. The Hoffs can grow to nearly 2 inches or more and they also show some parental instincts, they will guard the babies after they are born and even bring them food. Such fascinating little creatures! On a semi related note, check out Pill Millipedes! Due to Convergent Evolution they evolved the exact same defense as armadillidium species entirely separate from them! They aren't even closely related! Bugs are so neat.

Also I recommend giving them a source of calcium like cuttle fish bone. It helps them to molt easier so they grow quicker and start breeding sooner. :)

Before I watched your channel I would have never given Isopods or insects a chance. They're really starting to grow on me. Thank you Ed and Emily for doing all that you do to bring education to people about these lovely little creatures

I watch all your videos with my Banana Pastel Ball Python, named Pretzel. He doesn’t know he is a ball python lol. He thinks he is arboreal, he tries to burrow, he almost never hides in his caves and he never balls up. He’s also a ravenous eater.
@@user-yj5bj8ke6c He sure does! As my first snake, I definitely got really lucky.

I'm scared of isopods because they look like cockroaches. I have a horror story of them... (A cockroach lived in my ear and it was traumatizing)

Some more stuff about rolly pollies, since I've seen some comments about them (not an expert, just good at using google). What most people know as rolly pollies are also know as pill bugs, or woodlice, part of a family known as Armadillidiidae, and they can roll themselves into wee little balls when threatened. It's called conglobation, and is shared by all critters in that family. And yes, they are isopods, but not all isopods roll themselves up when threatened.
