Welcome to the very first episode of John's Garage! Today we introduce our Willys project named Bruce. We filmed this back in December of 2020, so the garage has undergone a lot of work. Stick around the channel if you want to watch this 80 year old vehicle be revived to its former glory. Thanks for watching!

Crazy to see a build on KZbin of a vehicle I saw when we were kids! I am definitely subscribed to this.

Wow! You have to clear coat that and do as little bodywork as possible. It woild be such a shame to lose those markings.

My first car was a 42 Ford GPW Jeep. I got it in 77 for like a grand drove it home. It had a Willys engine in it with no oil pressure when warm and the transmission leaked oil faster than you could put it in but it actually ran pretty good and I had the transmission rebuilt with used parts. I didn't know the early production Willys didn't have a glove box, every ww2 jeep I've ever seen had one and the early cj series flat fenders did not. I wouldn't change anything, I would repair the floors, scrape down to the original paint and markings and get it safe and stop there. I see a lot of rare original parts all over that thing that need to stay with it. Too bad they cut the hole in the body to put a later cj flat fender gas tank in it but back then there were lots of the early jeeps around so you did what was easy and cheap to keep it going. Good luck with it and at least they didn't put a small block chevy in it.
