2 жыл бұрын

Join in as the Restored crew attempts to revive this forgotten 1959 Willys CJ3B Jeep. Buying this sight unseen, the guys realize they've come across a rare high hood model equipped with a 134 Hurricane engine. With hopes to seeing this thing alive and back on the road again, they dig in and discover the engine is locked up solid. Follow along as they fight through the obstacles and attempt to get this once abandoned army jeep brought back to its former life. Will it run, or has it lost the battle?

I have a comment about your ghostbuster Hearst it really more incoming with another hearst from the state of Texas . Your hearst looked like the Hearst the took JFK from the hospital in Dallas to the airport he was shot in 1963 but the funeral home that sold the casket for transport just bought a brand new 1964 Hearst that was almost identical to yours before you chopped it up to the ghostbuster. The real hearst was sold at Barret Jackson auction. There is a You Tube channel called (Ask a mortician) that shows several pictures of that car a tells a pretty wild story of what happened that day. One of the crazy things that day the secret service basically stold the Hearst and took JFK to the airport. So I think your Hearst is a ghost busters plus

I have a 54 3B and I love driving it. I decided one Jeep wasn't enough. I decided to build a WWII Jeep. It's 42 Ford GPW and it has been a ground up rebuild with everything missing from it. After 5 years of work I can now drive it around sitting on a wood seat frame I built. I will be putting the body on it in the next month or two. Just about everything has been done by me with exception to rebuilding the axles with NOS ring and pinion and the engine that is a CJ engine for the time being until I can get a GPW motor rebuilt (no rush). I want to enjoy the Jeep.

Lance I hope you realize the ways you are touching people...watching this episode brought back so many memories of my Grandpa.... He had an Army issued Willies. All the unit marking were on it, push button start, No roll bar, bolt plat between the seats for a Ma Duce....it was the most fun to riding around Topnibee Michigan. He'd be chomping on a cigar; With a big grin on his face, the same grin you had while driving. 'You boys hold on...Willy's known for tossing passenger's" my brothers and I spent three weeks with he and my grandma up north Michigan on mullett LK Wednesday evening going to church, Sunday church, then lunch, ripping around in the willies. The absolute best part; my brothers and I learned how to drive in the willies After he passed, his estate gave the willies to the local Christian Camp....over the winter when the camp was at minimum staff, the jeep was stolen. Grandpa, always parked it in his service garage; "This is the easiest truck to hot-wire' You will need the lock the windscreen down. else-wise you'll need tempered glass cut for replacement....Don't ask me how I know...

Have a 53 Willys pickup with the 134F head that was stuck as well. I also had to remove the head and gently beat a block of wood to unstick it. It had water in the 4th or rear cylinder. I ended up rebuilding a different F head motor and am in the process of having the transmission and transfer case redone. I figured might as well address what I would no doubt have to deal with eventually anyway. When I drained the transmission/transfer case there was minimal fluid and it didn't look good. Hopefully have it under it's own power this summer. You rapping on the block of wood brought a smile to my face. unfortunately the 4th cylinder wall was too pitted.

Glad to see you got the old girl running!! I have a 47 CJ2A that I just finished rebuilding the entire drive train on. I believe those CJ3bs still used the t90 transmission and spicer 18 transfer case. There isn’t much to those transmissions, just a simple 3 speed and parts are readily available. Biggest thing to watch out for is the 2-3 shifting collar. They wear out over time, in turn causing the jeep to pop out of second on deaccleration. It’s a fun time packing the 88 little needle bearings into the cluster gear/counter shaft! If it were me I’d fix the transmission, brakes and just use it as an off-road rig! The f head engine design always intrigues me, mine has the l head go devil l134.

The British Rover 90 6 cylinder engine had the same side-valve/overhead valve system. A four cylinder version was used on the first Landrovers, then a conventional overhead valve four cylinder then the side valve/overhead valve six cylinder engine. The ignition timing on the six cylinder engine was in retard at idle speeds. They would produce power right down to stalled which made power control superbly manageable offroad. However performance was not all that great compared to the emerging Toyota Landcuisers and Nissan Patrols of two-thirds to nearly twice the cubic displacement.
