Nice to see the Blades given a bit of recognition. Started university last year in Sheffield and followed Sheffield United throughout last season, attending a lot of home games. They're one of the most exciting teams I've seen play and have been written off by the majority of mainstream pundits. How can they hype up Farke and Norwich's style of play this much without giving United, (who finished only 5 points behind them) any attention. Absoutle ignorance to the highest degree from the media.

I am a Blade for 43 years and I can honestly say that Chris Wilder is the best manager we have had at Sheffield United in my lifetime, not only is he from Sheffield, not only has he played for us, but he loves the club with a passion, the man is a legend and not only because of what he has achieved with taking us from League One to the Premier League in three seasons, but because he has given Sheffield United an identity, he's completely taken away that stigma of defensive football, parking the bus, long ball crap etc, he is an attacking minded manager with a system and tactics which are unique he plays with defenders that attack while other players can play in their positions, that has got us where we are. Most clubs, fans, the media were writing us off before we kicked a ball, not likely, we will shock a lot of clubs, managers, the media because of how we play. Chris Wilder is old school, he takes no prisoners and he puts the club before player loyalty, he has a tremendous fitness regime that even some of our new signings are not playing in the first team for 90 minutes because of his demands. His tactics will outdo so many clubs this season and least we not forget he won the LMA last season beating the likes of Guardiola and Klopp, so he deserves so much more respect. We are here to stay and with this man at the helm he won't allow anything less. I have gained a lot of respect for you hughwizzy for the time and comments you have said, thank you.

Another point not mentioned in the media is that Wilder actually started as a manager in his early 30’s managing a pub team in the Sheffield Sunday league and he was massively successful as a pub manager too. He’s been a success everywhere with no money and never been sacked after 20 years of being a manager. Regards this season I hear the media saying it’s enthusiasm and momentum but the truth is that SU have been cagey and over respectful and will definitely get better thought out the season.

Can honestly say as a Northampton fan that Chris Wilder is a legend - both personality wise and footballing wise. What he does for clubs is great, he saved us and I'm thrilled with the journey he had with Sheffield United since leaving us. Best manager we've had for a long time, and I suspect after watching the dross since he left us - it'll be a long time again until we get someone in as close to Chrissy Wilder's level.
@sheffsteel7

Check out Chris Wilders last 4 years, it’s like something from a film. Individually other teams have better players but Chris Wilders teams (Northampton and Sheff Utd) have regularly won most of their matches playing football that outplays better individuals playing a good style of quick short passing. If you give Klopp and Pepp ordinary players they wouldn’t be winning leagues like Wilder has done.

Great video. It's refreshing to hear from guys like you, Benjamin Bloom and Colin Murray on Quest, who actually do their research and base their analysis and opinion on that. Personally, as a Blades fan, I don't care about Mills and Crooks, they've always been irrelevant muppets, and MOTD doesn't care about anyone unless you're a "top four" side or have won a trophy. Sean Dyche and Eddie Howe never get the credit they deserve in MOTD either. Just a couple of other Chris Wilder facts to be considered. 1. In going on nearly 20 years of management, Wilder has never been sacked......ever. He's been poached by clubs from higher leagues but that's it. 2. When he was in charge of Northampton during their promotion season, they were in financial turmoil. Players weren't getting paid and despite that he kept them motivated, kept them playing and kept them winning. He then personally sought out a buyer for the club and saved it before then getting promoted at the end of the season. He is a master motivator and demands perfection from his players for 90 minutes, every game, much like Pep. Even if we win players get flack for mistakes. He won't pretend they didn't happen just because we won. 3. Alan Knill is actually the brains behind the attacking centre backs and many of our set piece plays. Wilder is the tactician on match day, implementing this and changing formations frequently as games develop. Against Chelsea we went from a 352 in the first half to a 343 and this got us back in the game and allowed us to dominate Chelsea. How many newly promoted sides would do that at Stamford Bridge at 2-0 down? Interestingly enough, when Wilder was at Bury he was assistant manager to Knill, now it's vice versa. 4. Despite committing two of the three centre backs forward in attack, the Blades conceded the fewest goals last season, keeping clean sheets in nearly half their matches, whilst scoring the fourth highest number of goals in the division. The players are so well drilled that midfielders and strikers will drop back to cover the centre backs if an attack breaks down, without Wilder needing to bark at them from the touchline. This is because he has a 10 point checklist of what he wants from players before signing them, with intelligence being one of the most key attributes. As a result he has a harmonious squad with no egos and no wage driven Billy Big Bollocks thinking they're the alpha and casuing unrest. Wilder could get offered Paul Pogba on loan for a season and he'd tell Man Utd to bugger off. You have to ask why Chelsea went for Frank Lampard, a manager with one years experience who achieved nothing with a bigger budget than Sheffield United, over Wilder, a manager with loads of experience, who's never been sacked, a master motivator, whose side play good attacking football, has a brilliant winning record, has been a winner of trophies albeit lower leagues, who doesn't need millions to achieve success or big name players, and who got promoted to the Premiership last season largely with the same team from the League One promotion with the 6th smallest budget in the league? Oh no, we do know why. Exactly what you touched on. The Premiership, pundits etc only care about big names. "Sheffield United will get relegated because they don't have any big names?" Don't make me laugh. Other fans and pundits will never understand why no other teams would ever try or be interested in signing Chris Basham, but if he left Sheffield United then they would lose an important player. It's a strange concept to try to understand, but Blades fans know the answer to this one. Thanks for giving Chris Wilder and the Blades deserved credit.

He's from the lower leagues, is English and wouldn't fit wearing an armani suit on the front cover of a GQ magazine. Imagine how high he would be rated if he was called Andre Villas-Boas, worked in some capacity and in the same building as Mourinho, Klopp or Guardiola (they'll label him their protegee = must be good), and had GQ looks. Just to add to Wilder's incredible record too...in his first season at Northampton, him, his staff and his players weren't paid for months, as the club nearly went under. During that time he kept the players motivated and the results coming, whilst (even more unbelievably) helping the board to devise a financial rescue package. There is a great vid of home being interviewed about this on KZbin somewhere.

It was a bit of a throwaway line when talking about our transfers but the 'greater than sum of our parts' thing is spot on. The togetherness and spirit of the team is huge and our style of play cant be achieved without the complete understanding and trust between players to fluidly rotate positions without leaving us exposed and if someone does make a mistake they have the confidence to keep doing what we do because in the end it gets results whether in that game or another game.

Superb analysis not only of Chris Wilder’s footballing nous, but also of the poor standard of many of our so called football experts. Thank you for putting the record straight,

These fraud pundits are disrespecting United so much it's unreal. I'm a Wednesday fan, and however much I despise United, you can't take away what Chris Wilder has done, not just for United but throughout his career. Wouldn't surprise me if he keeps them in the Premier League.

Genius analogy Wizzy. Overlapping play basic! Has Garth Crooks actually watched a Blades game and seen the movement and the way players interchange position.

Thank you for the kind comments on our club. You have clearly done your homework as everything you said was spot on(except for calling us "Sheffield". Both ourselves and Wednesday fans hate that). Would much rather see the likes of you doing punditry than the likes of Crooks & Mills. Keep up the good work and don't forget to pay a visit to Bramall Lane. Always welcome.

Finally someone actually gets it, the irony is that us blades have always profited from people writing us off, as far as I’m concerned the more uninformed ‘punditry’ regarding our style of play the better.

Agree about the pundits, so many of them do not really do their homework and like to just sing the praises of the "glamour" players and clubs. If Chris Wilder was Spanish/Portuguese/Italian they would be kissing his arse.

Can not say enough how outstanding this video is, someone finally screaming out on KZbin that a Blades fan managing his boyhood club is out here playing a style of football no one else is even attempting and calling out idiots like Crookes, Ashley Cole, Danny Mills and so many more for being lazy, biased and in the end garbage pundits! HughWizzy take a bow son!
