My wife and I both had affairs at the same time, and hid it from each other for 2 years until I discovered her affair, at which point I confessed to mine. It turns out we both were unfaithful around the same time, late 2021 and just 5 months after our son was born. She was definitely depressed and had stopped taking her meds, which may have caused her to spiral, on the other hand, for me as a man, I thought I could tough out the depression without help or meds, and in turn ended up seeking other women to help myseld feel better. The part I struggle with most is feeling betrayed, but having to recognize my own poor choices. My wife and I are both in therapy, individuals and couples and like Jake, I immediately told my wife we needed couples counceling to try to fix her. Most of my energy has been spent feeling betrayed and not recotnizing my own infidelity.

Awesome! Can you share how the unfaithful can work through the guilt and shame and know that they DO indeed deserve their marriage?

At the moment I am fighting for my over 35 year old marriage. My husband started meeting up with a younger woman and after months of humiliation I put him out of our house. I still love him and thought we were soul mates. I respected and trusted him. I have often wondered if he had a bad conscious but obviously not otherwise he couldn’t have been so sly to hurt me so much. Even after nearly 1 year of living apart I am still heartbroken and finding it hard to move on.

I’m the unfaithful wife , 4 months since D-day , I took full responsibility for my actions , and doing whatever it take to show my husband that I’m willing to do whatever it takes until I found out he started seing someone I’m devastating , now I don’t know how to show empathy knowing that .when confronted him, he said he’s doing that to cope with what happened, I’ve never been lost in my life before, my husband still doesn’t know if he still wants to be with me or not asking for time and space . We still live together but very disconnected. I’m working on myself right now to be the better person, Maybe he sees that , then hopefully we can work on something better . The pain is unbearable .

You now see the devastation you caused , at least you know why he's doing it, he is still trying to figure it out. What he ment to you and how he was so easily replaced and thrown out in the trash.

The pain is unbearable, absolutely. It takes a long time to work through everything. You both have a ton of healing to do both as cheaters and also as betrayed's. If I could, I'm curious... what hurts worse, his adultery or his ambivalence?
