Meet Kimi Werner: The Woman Who Rode a Great White Shark - The Inertia

The Inertia

The Inertia

8 жыл бұрын

Therein lies the essence of Kimi Werner’s inspiration. She hitches a ride on the dorsal fin of a Great White. She bites into the brains of octopus. She cooks award-winning food that she catches with her own two hands. But her intentions are unequivocally rooted in a place of respect and balance. What she kills, she eats. What she cooks she shares. And her insistence that we more intimately understand the food that we consume is a powerful one. It's the kind of thinking that starts a revolution.
That thing about riding a Great White? It’s just scratching the surface.
Meet Kimi Werner.

@@napoleao3409 there is a beautiful story about her and her family and her evolution from a hunter-gatherer to a culinary to honor her prey that you have to get lucky as I did to find it. This encounter is second to none. I believe that I can back it up. Good luck on finding out how this encounter became what it is. That is second to none. And it is not the fact that she was the first that felt that this was the only course of action she had to survive ! So SHE COULD GO HOME AND COOK HER PREY FOR HER FAMILY ! WOW ! I first saw her videos three or four years ago. Her evolution as a diver with her father as a hunter-gatherer, " "sorry dad "only to surpass* him physically. * But evolves so much because of his teaching of the pray they need to survive. She graduates culinary school to honor them. I have seen other videos since then of other people very brave I'm sure doing the same thing she did. I believe she was first which in itself is quite an honor. Let it be known that in my mind. Her evolution to this encounter is second to none !Wow WOW WOW! She could name her price on the price of a meal. A shared meal ? PRICELESS ! Second to none. 😊

i think a LOT of how a shark responds to you depends on if it is FULL or HUNGRY LOL they are awesome, majestic, beautiful intelligent amazing apex predators though! most people should probably stop screwing up their habitat, hunting them, overfishing so that they need to look for other for sources, etc and leave them alone to thrive.. glad you are showing another side to them, not just mindless eating machines, like in the shallows and jaws.

She stated that her instinct of FEAR kicked in. Then her curiosity overpowered her survival instincts which is fear. She is definitely is lucky, if that Shark had been hungry she would have not been telling her story. She should follow her first instinct it's what makes us survive.
@CaptainSelenewerewol
@CaptainSelenewerewol 5 жыл бұрын
If that shark was hungry she would still be fine. Humans are not part of a shark's diet and they do not eat us. She was in clear water and the Great White knew exactly what she was and accepted her. That female's pectorals fins were horizontal and flat meaning she was a calm shark. Sharks only attack people because when we swim they are attracted to the vibrations that sound like an injured animal. Please do your research on sharks before feeding the mass hysteria and misconception that Sharks are monsters. They are not. Humans kill over 100M sharks every year. That's roughly 8600 every 45 minutes. There were only 66 unprovoked attacks on people and 4 fatalities which below the average of 6 people. If you have any questions about sharks please ask.
@wendaltvedt4673
@wendaltvedt4673 2 жыл бұрын
@@CaptainSelenewerewol Here you are telling people to do their research yet almost everything you said is some of the stupidest misinformed shit I've ever heard. There are literally thousands of unprovoked fatal shark attacks on humans. Many of which they were completely consumed. You have no idea what that shark would have done had it been hungry so stop acting like you're some sort of expert. Clearly you're not.

I love meat, I love beef, I love veal... but I think cows are cute and sweet. I have no qualms about eating them. I've eaten animals of all ranges, beef from yak, ox, cow, kangaroo, snail, lion (yes!), snake, elk, deer, dog (yes..), possibly cat. I've drunk milk from goat, yak, cow. I don't take pride in what I've consumed, but I know that my food diversity is of necessity. I have to eat. I also feel that plants are sentient, I grow them, talk to them, care for them, but I eat the fuck out a salad. I don't like fungus generally but I've eaten a mushroom or two. I've also eaten mealworm and some fried grasshopper thing. I'm human and am able to differentiate need from pleasure. Kimis ability to love ocean creatures but yet hunt and eat them is the same.We should not judge.

sharks assess risk if they aren't starving, they are inquisitive and they size up situations they don't just randomly charge in and attack especially in new situations they aren't familiar with. did you know sharks eyes roll back in their head to protect them when they go in for a bet because a blind shark would have a hard time hunting :( smell alone wouldn't be enough and they don't have echolocation the way some whales do some whales if they lost their sight may be able to res on echolocation

i dont know much about this I'm sure this amazing lady knows more but i isn't spear fishing kind of putting yourself in a situation where small sharks will come up and try to take the fish the fish's blood attracts them. id just give them the fish but if it is stuck on the end of a spear i'd be worried that the shark would get stabbed accidentally. if the shark wanted to eat me id try to avoid it but i don't know if id stab it or not, probably in the moment but i wouldn't put myself in that situation or at least try to minimize it by not spear fishing, if theres any truth to the claims that its unsafe which it seems like it would be. like carrying around a steak with a hungry bear next to you, or hunting a buck and tracking it if it didnt bleed out right away and finding a bear snacking on it and trying to fight the bear its crazy. why do that. I'm sure the fish is delicious though! if the shark wanted to eat me and suceeded, good one for the shark, i mean, you're in their territory, and sharks have been around in some form for millions more years than we have, going back to the later periods of the dinosaurs. all animals are truly amazing and if you spend enough time w them you can catch on a little bit to their signals they try to talk to you and show you respect usually if you respect them and their space and if they are not hungry in the case of predators. although my cat is insane never been abused yet he likes to play and pounce on my feet usually not using his nails but if he was much bigger i wouldn't want to play with him. lol. not to compare a cat to a great white lol. i used to volunteer and work with wolves in julian , ca near my home town of s.d. before i moved for college at a wolf sanctuary and they are sweet animals but they are social animals and have clear hierarchy. you had to learn how to carry yourself and never turn your back on them because they even in play take that as an opportunity to sneak up on you. they teach you how to act around them, you are with at least four at once in each enclosure. and each one has a ranking and you have to act like you are in control at the top to get cooperation at first you have to do some dominant actions, but with such such care because you're coming in and basically insulting the top dog when you first do that you can't just expect them to submit. it takes years to get there. and even then they can turn on you and some instinct will trigger an incident, an attack. which isn't their fault as we are not meant to interact with them, and as far as people who abduct healthy animals for pets, you are asking to die. when you have injured animals who cannot be rereleased, you sometimes have to learn to interact with them in order to do vet visits, to feed them, grooming, etc. in all this time i never felt unsafe i was scared at first because i don't decieve myself i know the power they have i hear them crunch bones of their dinner their bit force is insane so you never forget that and yo respect them, and they do the same for me every day i was with them. beautiful animals. i grew up volunteering in shelters and at project wildlife who does amazing work on anything and everything wild and native to the area from hummingbirds, mice, skunks, owls, doves, raccoons, to the rare mountain lion, coyote, and bobcat. project wildlife is great, donate if you can they do great work. so many places do. aspca is great too. i mean they are sweet creatures but they don't overcomplicate things. sorry if I'm not being clear I'm jet lagged. anyway just because animals notice weakness and attack on instincts at times, doesn't mean they are heartless picking on some weak thing, they are ending suffering of old sick or otherwise "zero chance at survival" animals. there aren't many epidemics of disease in wild animals because the sick ones die off quickly. not in al cases but most. animals do not think like humans and anthropomorphizing them is pointless. but they do have feelings, and they even have a sense of humor. hell, anyone who has a dog can tell that dogs have a sense of shame when they feel guilty, my dogs are actually quite prim and proper they get embarrassed when they fart you can't laugh or they will go in the other room and sulk and i feel so bad for them. my sister once laughed at my german shepard while he was going to the bathroom in the yard because she's mean and he will now hide to do his business and when i pick up the yard waste i have to look in planters and behind bushes off the path lol poor dear dog. dogs want to please you though they are social animals and they are also domesticated cats can go from feral to tame, and back again, cats are not social (small cats) some big cats are.. so i think it depends on the kind of animal and the individual animal. think the way she killed the octopus was quick and kind not sure why she didn't use a knife i guess it doesn't matter to the octopus, as long as she bites the right spot, so who cares. I've had fresh octopus but not that fresh lol. w fresh octopus you have to chew thoroughly cuz octopus' suckers get stuck in your throat

have u seen the shallows? duuuuumb. why would that big shark do so much work for one skinny tiny little chicken bone of a girl when it had a huge whale carcass to munch and nom and grub on feet away??? and the way she killed the shark was inventive i guess but unlikely and duuuumb.

How are we "zombies" if we buy wrapped or prepared fish at the stores? That means were civilized. She's the one who's trying to portray herself as an animal that still hunts for her own food. 😂😂😂
