Meet Mary Kathryn Brake, a missionary at Abaana's Hope.

In the summer of 2022, Mary Kathryn embarked on a journey to spend her summer serving as an Intern with Four Corners. The following year, in 2023, she spent three months of her summer living and serving at Abaana's Hope. During her stay, Mary Kathryn wholeheartedly devoted herself to our school and community. In the school setting, she actively engaged in teaching various subjects, tutoring, and even dedicated her efforts to teaching sign language to one of our students. Her commitment extended beyond the classroom as she visited their homes and invested in the lives of our children's families as well. During that time, the Lord clearly revealed to her that this was where He wanted her to be. As she began taking steps in obedience, she returned to the states to complete her degree. Mary Kathryn graduated from Auburn University in the fall of 2023 with a degree in Human Development and Family Sciences with a concentration in Early Childhood Development. Additionally, Mary Kathryn is a faithful member to her sending church First Baptist Opelika. By God's grace, Mary Kathryn has been provided the opportunity to further her service as a long-term missionary. She was excited to return home to Abanna's Hope to continue to love, serve, and share the hope of the gospel with her Acholi brothers and sisters!

Four Corners Ministries exist to communicate and demonstrate the gospel of Jesus to unreached and under-equipped people groups. Abaana's Hope is a comprehensive community in Uganda where missionaries follow Christ's command to make disciples of all nations. We continue to see God’s hand at work, restoring the Acholi people through the power of the gospel in the Abaana’s Hope Community. Pastor Okello Benson faithfully preaches the truth of God’s Word at Living Stones Church. The gospel is proclaimed boldly to thousands through the Truth Matters radio program weekly. Vulnerable women and children, like Carolyn and Oscar, have found safety and learned life-sustaining skills through the Women’s Refuge Center. Many orphans and children receive immunizations, food supplements, education, and hope through the Child Development Program. Men and women, like Vincent Wilobo and Ajok Christine, are providing for their families through jobs on our farm and our Life Beads Ministry. Many children are receiving a Christ-centered education at Living Stones Christian School. All students and employees receive healthcare through our Medical Clinic. Neighbors in surrounding villages have access to the gospel, through weekly Community Bible studies, with our missionaries and short-term mission teams. Indigenous students in the Pastor Training Center are being empowered to evangelize, disciple, and plant churches among the refugee camps, local villages, and among the tribes of northern Uganda and South Sudan. Only the Spirit of God through the Word of God can accomplish the work of God that we have witnessed at Abaana’s Hope. We give Him all the glory and invite you to join us in His great redemptive story. Jesus is worthy of worship from every tribe.
