Cubby was known as "One Take O'Brien" for nailing everything on the first take. Practice makes perfect. 2 of his nieces, who I worked with, were studio singers, and they also got the nicknames "One Take O'Brien", for the same reason. Professionalism seems to run through all members of that family. Cubby's dad set a dine example for everyone. There's an interview of him on KZbin, by Tom Kramer, Cubbys son in law, "102 year old man, drummer Haskell O'Brien" by Tom Kramer.
