Grandpa didn't really stop drumming on stage until he was 100 years old, though it wasn't very often. He played with Frankie Carl and Horace Height and he and Grandma discovered Peggy Lee and brought her on board with one of the big bands Grandpa was in. What a storied life! My dad and Warren spent their early years on the road because of Grandpa's career. Grandpa is my hero and I've compared every man to him. None could measure up, though some of my cousins have found great husbands! He modeled to all of us how to live moral, loving, responsible lives and how to love unconditionally yet stand up for yourself at the same time. He was the best man I've ever known, and his 3 sons are and were amazing and wildly successful in their own fields of interest, too. You can see the light of love, happiness, and goodness and joy in his eyes even in this video. He ate a few oreo cookies every single day but as always, in moderation.

Wow - Great seeing this video. Hack was my 1st drum teacher. A few of us living in the San Fernando Valley would make the commute to his drum studio every week. He was a wonderful, inspirational teacher. I really enjoyed his stories, ranging from show/vaudeville style performing to contemporary. I still have some books where Hack would draw a little picture in addition to the drum notation. As still an active drummer today, I am honored and thankful to have been one of his students.

What an awesome man. Incredible cognition and physical health for his age . Who could give this a thumbs down? You would have to be a truly poisoned mind who doesn't see the beauty in the simplistic experience of being a good human being. Of caring about others and seeing Beauty in the world, not complicating things, and being appreciative for life instead of complaining about your iPhone not being up-to-date. The world is full of them unfortunately. Different times, different spirit, different country. We need to get back to these ideas and appreciate what God has given us. People need to look at how other people live in other countries, be students of History, truly appreciate the opportunities we are given, even if you are disadvantaged, and wake up to the fact that we need to preserve our freedom and our Republic. God Bless America
