I was taught never to report a holiday cactus while in bloom. It would have been better to propagate to lighten the balance of the plant 🌵💚

I am in Houston area. I keep mine in a terra cotta pot outdoors. I cover it if we get a frost but leave it outdoors. It blooms every year with minimal care. I have had it about 5-8 years.

They are beautiful plants...and I have to say pretty easy to care for too. You should really get one. If not the Easter Cactus...the Thanksgiving/Christmas Cactus is also very similar....and you'll be seeing a lot of those for sale soon.

Beatriz Soto they comes in a huge variety of colors. Some with dual colors too (I believe I have some cuttings that’s white and pink). Hard to keep up with all these different colors. So pretty I want them all.

Yeah maybe I shouldn’t have repotted when it’s blooming. It does stresses out the plant. It might cause plant to drop the flowers. Mine took it ok though. Repot whenever you feel comfortable...there’s really no exact rules to when to repot something. 💚🌱☺️

Informative video. I just got two Easter Cacti (been looking for a long time) full of fuschia buds. I keep reading that re-potting during blooming will cause the buds to fall off...did that happen to yours? I just repotted mine, regardless, and I was wondering if I should brace myself for falling buds. Thanks!

Oh I didn’t know about that. I had no issues with mine after it’s been repotted. I guess I can see why people might say that it would cause dropping of buds...due to broken roots while repotting or maybe different environment. I hope repotting yours didn’t cause any buds to drop.

You can propagate this plant pretty easily. You can take cuttings and use water to root. You can take cutting and stick it directly in soil. And you can just divide the whole plant.

They have a lot during the holidays. Around November they should start selling the thanksgiving/Christmas cactuses. My plant is doing great. I had it outside during the summer under indirect sunlight and it seems to be loving it. Noticed some roots popping out from the top and bottom...I think it’s telling me it’s time to repot. 😊

I just got my first one in the mail. It was nice and well rooted, and also orange like yours. I've had it for a few weeks. I used well drained soilless mix, and water only when few inches of soil is dry. It's next to a north east window with filtered light. It's starting to wilt/shrivel on most parts. I'm at loss. Do you have any ideas? Should I trim the wilted parts? They are paper thin feeling

Candice Artist there’s many factors that might cause leaves to wrinkle or shrivel and thin out. So it’s hard for me to pin point the cause since I can’t see the plant. It could be from under watering? Over watering? Too might light? High minerals in the water that’s used to water your plants? Soil too compact? I would first cut off the damaged leaves. Maybe check to see if there’s any root rot and go from there. Make sure when watering to let all water drain. Don’t let plant sit in water. If you’re still worried about your plant make some cuttings and propagate it just in case.

I don’t think you should be concerned if the plant looks healthy. My plant actually has some too. Kinda like spikes at the tips right? I actually don’t know what it is...since my plant is healthy I never looked into it. 😁💚🌱

What do you use to fertilize?

I usually use a diluted fertilizer or an organic fertilizerI that I have laying around my house on plants. So a 20-20-20 or 20-10-20 should be good.

What kind of soil are u using?

Any potting soil with well drainage is good. So potting soil with added perlite. Or use cactus soil if you have some a available. I believe I used cactus soil with some perlite in this repotting.

It will kill it if you repot it when its in bloom, BIG NO NO i been growing them for 45 years and i have never seen one live when its repotted in bloom, so just be warned
