Hey Petko, millipedes are pretty specialized in their care (I believe you’ve had some in the past so I won’t be too specific). Deep, moist substrate is crucial, and must have edible components in it. You also cannot house them with anything that might attack and eat them while they are molting (this includes isopods). I trust you will do your research and I hope he is able to recover because he’s amazing! Someone else mentioned in the comments to use surgical glue to treat the crack- this works, but maybe talk to someone who has experience first-hand.

I would sell you for the crack on your giant millipede shell. Or its carapace or exoskeleton.. you could take a little bit of surgical glue known as new skin and put it on the crack itself and that might help it heal. That way when it goes to shed it'll shut off in one piece. You could also contact somebody new is a lot about giant millipedes and ask them some questions on how to fix that issue with the crack in the exoskeleton. It is something to ask questions about. Cuz you do have an injury to this insect and it might need to be treated. I may I don't know if they're too many veterinarians deal with millipedes in your area. But you definitely could see if there's some way to close the crack or just seal it in a bit so it doesn't get infected. And the millipede doesn't get worse. But I would suggest just taking a little bit of new skin or surgical glue. And applying a small little. To it and then getting that closed up a bit. I don't know if it'll help don't know if it'll keep it from leaking. One never knows. But if you know somebody in your area that knows a lot about giant millipedes and how to heal a crack in the exoskeleton. It'd be worth asking them about it.

I read on a forum that a Solfugids' lifespan benefits from nightly temperature drops, a restricted diet, and a hibernation period for the winter time. Solfugids rarely pass up food in captivity because food is scarce in their natural habitat and they will eat whatever is available. Many owners feed them regularly and keep them hot 24/7 which may be the reasons for their short lifespan in captivity.

Hey Petko, about the Chamel Spider: They are hiding under rocks and in the sand to avoide heat. Thats why they only come out in the night. I have never kept them but it seem's logical to me so alot of heat might not be the reason why the others died. Maybe im completly wrong with afterall. Better check again..
@rebel44663 жыл бұрын
Their latin name solifugae means something along the lines of "fleeing from the sun", so you're totally right. But a day and night cycle with higher and lower temperatures could be beneficial. In a certain range of course. After all, even hiding under rocks in a desert will be a pretty warm way to spend your day. I'm thinking something like 30°C during the day time
