You have a 5,000 pound front axle and a 15,000 rear axle. The engine is a small block.

You jerry's like to turn something USA beautiful into a Tammy Fay crap. I'm from Texas and I used these old trucks in my teens. Keep them original.

My 62 C50 Bus has the same grille, hood and fenders. It had the same style wheels, but I just blew 5K on new 22.5's and steel radials. Be very careful when messing around with those old style wheels. It's a good idea to familiarize yourself with the construction of them before you dig in.

Yea i have decided to sack them off the truck and want the 22.5s what tyre size you going to be running? Your right on the diff ratio

@@LozzyTheTransporter I went with an 11R 22.5 on the rear and 10R 22.5 on the front. I'm not sure if your sizes are rated the same there. I'm in Canada. The wheels i got were made in Turkey with the same blanks as the bigger trucks. Being that ours only have a 6.25 hub hole, there's a lot of steel left. They are heavy and 1/8 inch thicker than the originals. I'm still deciding what do do with the stock lug studs on the rear, as the nuts don't go on all the way now. Stock ones are really hard to find, and oversize ones don't exist. The front nuts were no problem.

I was happy to hear you are taking the old split wheels off. I have a 1966 Ford F600, and had 2 of the split wheels to blow apart while transporting logs, and took out the brake line both times.

Never ever put fuel in the cab tank. It will smell you out of there. We always removed the tank and put a locking cap on it to keep some one from putting fuel in it. That is a small block engine. 348s are wider and will look like a huge m for the valve covers. Old texas hay hauler. It should have an t on the block vin number indicating a transportation 4 bolt main.

I have a 66 with a cab tank. No matter the heat of the seals are good you will get no smell.
