I’m a maternity RN and I thank you for mentioning that breastfeeding did not come easily. It is actually a rare mom and baby pair who find it simple. So many new mothers become frustrated and sad about that and it is a blow to their self confidence. It is very common to have to practice, try new positions and methods, and even use formula before or in addition to breastfeeding. It doesn’t mean a mother and baby won’t be close, or that the baby will be less healthy.

Congratulations!!! Oliver is so precious! When I had my twins I pushed with my daughter for 2 hours and 40 minutes and it was awful. With my son, I think I only had to push for a couple minutes and he was out. I’m glad you had a better experience with pushing because it was not enjoyable for me, haha!

I’m glad he’s sleeping well for you, too! My twins both have always slept well for us. We have friends who had babies right around the same time as ours and none of theirs slept (or sleep) as well as ours do. I feel bad for them but super grateful that Maura and Roman are so good about that. They’re two now and they tend to sleep until about 8-9am.
