The one thing I did to help me stay on track when I had my babies was to do just 1 big thing every day. On Monday wash all area rugs, on Tuesday mop all floors, on Wednesday change and wash all bedding, on Thursday dust whole house, on Friday, clean toilets, tubs and sinks, on Saturday vacuum entire house, on Sunday do all remaining laundry...this is just a sample of how I managed with my babies to not overwhelm myself. I would actually have my weekly chores on a board that hung in the pantry. This way the house was always clean and I was not overwhelmed with trying to do everything needed in one day, and believe it or not, I still do this today 53 years later, because it worked for me....

I'm 61 and have raised 3 amazing children. My #1 tip would be to throw all the baby books out the window, stay away from fads on social media, and just follow your instincts. If you do need advice, go to older women whom you trust. Take a deep breath, relax, trust your baby to tell you what it needs, and let yourself enjoy the little minutes. When you're focused on worry you don't experience the joy. These precious days will fly by. Be in the moment. ❤

You are incredible! I raised 4 children and didn't have any of the gizmos and gadgets they have on the market. You are right, there were none of them even 40 years ago. They're all a waste. I totally agree with you on your tips, Our kids ate, slept and played everywhere. I know people that have to leave for nap time, lunch or whatever. Mine just fell asleep where we were. That diaper genie is so gross, I agree My daughter used it and the smell was awful! I nursed all 4 of mine as well for a year, my last one still nursed at night until 18 months. You're right it's a season and one that goes by in a flash. Enjoy the sweetness and savor that special season. Your sweet baby girl is so precious and so very blessed to have you for her Mama. ❤

When I was pregnant with my first baby all my coworkers were telling me how hard it’s going to be, how little sleep, get all the blackout curtains and white noise etc. and I would essentially just smile and nod, knowing full well I wasn’t concerned in the slightest and planned to have her sleep in the daylight/regular noise and cosleep at night. now with my daughter she’s so chill and will sleep anywhere too and i almost feel like I’m keeping this big secret 😅

Mom of 2. 10 & 5 year old boys. My biggest advice is be able to say NO to others. If it doesn’t work for your routine & your baby/family, just say no. Don’t stress yourself out trying to meet others expectations. Motherhood is a major change and added unnecessary stress just makes it harder ❤

My advice is get educated on postpartum depression!!! It can be a huge issue for many moms, Do not feel shameful about it. Getting help asap is a game changer! I have 3 Grown sons now but baby 1 and 2, I got so depressed and knew nothing about postpartum depression. I ended up a very sick lady mentally. thankfully my doctor with baby 2 knew exactly what I needed.

Mom of four, Grandma of 11, Great Grandma of 1. The advice that babies have been coming and cared for forever is spot on. All the crazy rules of parenting do not work for everyone.Use common sense and spend the time to love and get to know your baby. What works for your family is the right thing to do. I brought my baby into bed with me and nursed while I was dosing off too,, that much needed rest was so important. Bless your little one. By the way my last little boy was a chunk too,,,only being breastfed. The doctors claimed he was underwieght according to the charts and wanted me to supplement with Formula!!! He was so big we called him the Budda Baby. He is now 6ft 5. And no I did not follow their recomendation. Mamma knows best.

About to have our 4th here in about 2 months (Nov. 26) and I agree with all of these! I'll add babies love a change of scenery when upset, so I always took them outside if they were fussy and wouldn't chill and it always helped! A walk or sitting in a swing or just walking around.

Mom of 4 & I so wished someone had told me some of these things! I would always get up, go in another room to nurse & always change their diapers after nursing! I was up so many hours & hardly got any sleep! They all turned out wonderful, but your advice is worth so much! You're a wonderful wife & mother! I just love your down to earth/real/raw videos!❤

I have a funny nursing story with my first baby: I was exhausted. She was maybe 3 weeks old and I was still in that stage of trying to figure everything out. I was in her room in the rocking chair, it was December, so the room was pretty chilly. She was bundled up pretty good, just like a burrito, and as I was nursing her, I fell asleep and she rolled out of my arms, down my legs onto the very thick carpeted floor. She never even woke up LOL. (We laugh about this now because she sleeps through anything!) I obviously had to figure out something better that would work for both her and I. I wish I could remember where I found it online but it was a bassinet that the side dropped down. So I pulled it up to my bed and at night when she would wake up, I would drop the side, pull her towards me, nurse her and basically just push her right back in. It was wonderful and it worked for all three of children. We also never kept the house quiet or dark for naps or sleep time. My now adult babies can sleep anywhere, at any time! I agree with you a 1001% that moms have been doing all of this since day one and figuring things out as they go along. You're a sweet and beautiful person and you're doing an amazing job raising your daughters, being a loving and funny wife to your husband, keeping a gorgeous home, all while finding time to vlog. Hopefully there's not too many haters in your comments, but for those of us that adore you - what they have to say doesn't matter anyway.🩷 God bless and thanks for sharing with all of us🦋😊

Hi Kristen, I totally agree with the schedule suggestion. My eldest daughter is 24 and my 2nd is 16 and with both of them I established a schedule that would work for me when I returned back to work after my maternity leave. My second mom hack if you need to bottle feed and leave the house, I had a small 500ml thermos and would fill it with fresh boiling water and also had bottled water and my little containers with already measured milk powder. When the time came to make the bottle I would add equal amounts of hot and cold water and milk powder to the bottle and would then have a bottle ready for use, freshly made at the correct temperature, saving a lot of worrying about keeping bottles warm or from the milk becoming sour. ☺️👍

Three week new mom here. I was so scared too, like lifelong biggest fear. Can't explain how scared I was on top of having a miscarriage, so I knew what contractions felt like (the bringer of death and sadness). I DEFINITELY recommend a Midwife or at least a Doula who will support you with new baby. My sister told me over and over, you're already strapped in, you can't get off the roller coaster. Just ride it. The birth part is less than a week of super suck (mine was 3 days). Probably just one day of it. It can be hell, but it's a SACRIFICE to bring in new life. Lean in. Move toward the fire, be burned and be reborn. Listen to Ina May, Brigit Teylor, Chrissy Horton, Standing So Tall (LA Leche League), Hypno birthing, Bradley Method. Blessings! Be brave and humble. You CAN DO IT.

I love listen to your chilled aproach to motherhood🥰Breastfeeding my first baby was a struggle the first 6 weeks. A lot of crying and the feeling of failure. Sore nipples, and and the baby was long and skinny. A relief for us both when the 6 weeks check-up with the lokal nurse came, and she insisted that I should give him formula afer he had eaten what I had. O happy day!! He ate, burped, and slept for 8 hours straight. This helped us both. ❤today he is a 26 year old healthy young man. No allergies or intolerances🎉 Strangely…His brother, who was 100% breast fed has a lot of allergies… 😅 And btw. You should probalby have mentioned that the colostrum you take comes from animals, not humans😅😅

I breastfed both of my babies. Neither of them ever took a bottle or a pacifier. I never pumped or saved milk. The first two weeks were a little rough with the first one. I was engorged so bad the baby had trouble latching. I cried a lot, lol, and was so afraid it wasn’t going to get better, but we made it through and it quickly became the easiest most natural thing. When the second one came along it was like my body and myself knew what to do and it was just second nature. My boys are, now, 27 and 31 😊

Kristen, I raised 3 kids and I cannot even tell you how I did it! I went to college to become a teacher when I was 37 (took 6.5 years) and started when one was 3! They were 4 years (about) apart. I did all of the mom things throughout-still don’t know how! (I graduated from college the same year our oldest son graduated from high school). We had graduation pictures taken together! Then, I got a teaching position and didn’t miss a beat with all of the mom things I needed to continue to do. You are a star in this grandmother’s eyes-with 4 kiddos! I did so many things wrong, yet they are all successful, Jesus-loving kids, and are raising my 8 perfect grandchildren to my satisfaction (mostly😉). Cindi (from WV). 😊

I think your honesty of your experience is so important for new moms. I didn’t like breastfeeding because I wasn’t comfortable with it and sometimes, if not most times, it was really painful. Back in my day, the nurses told you to change breasts every 10 - 15 minutes (not sure of times - been a long time ago) so this was news to me about just breastfeeding on one side. However, glad to hear you are pumping on the other side because as you stated, you are definitely leaking on the other side and need relief. I was much more comfortable breastfeeding with my second child. And guess what, when I breastfed, I lost the pregnancy weight really fast. I never knew that there was a purpose for the shoulder openings - good info! Great tips on diapering babies. You had some great tips - glad you shared.

All great advice! I’ve learned a few things myself over the years. Also due with another at the end of October. Don’t sweat all of the milestones. Your kiddo will learn to go on the potty and won’t be 25 using diapers anymore. Your child doesn’t have to be a reading prodigy at 4, if they read at 7, awesome. You don’t have to buy much to entertain your kids…in fact, don’t. Let others spoil them with gifts on bdays, holidays and save that money on good nutrition because that truly will help them out later in life and sometimes will help tame some of those behavioral issues. THRIFT everything you can!

Baby Lily is getting so big and she's so beautiful, just like her mommy❤ And I love your dress! I'm A mom of 2 now adult children & a grandma of 7, two of which I'm now raising..a 3yr old & a 5yr old. Best tip i can give, and someone else gave the same tip and you also mentioned it before you had sweet Lily... all the "stuff" or "things" really are NOT necessary! Alot of those things are just a way of money.. sure you may use them for a bit but they grow out of everything so quickly! The one thing that's available now days that wasn't available when mine were babies is the little bedside bassinets with the see thru netting & zipper sides so you can see baby & just unzip & slide them right out without even setting up. Its not "necessary" but its a great convenience & last until they start sitting up. My son & his wife had one & i really liked it alot! But most of the things are just that.. things! Things they'll outgrow in no time! My DIL is a NICU nurse, she knew more about babies than i did😄 But she started pumping & freezing her colostrum before the baby was ever born, once she knew it was in. I'm not sure how far along she was, sorry! It was just A a few ounces at a time, but she gave the baby one bag every day, besides her milk. She said it was just like A vitamin so to speak. I didn't breast feed my oldest, but i did with my youngest. And I did the same thing, i did half one side & half the other, but i wasn't educated on why you should use one side 🤷‍♀️ My Son, my youngest, was tongue tied, & so was his daughter. We had his clipped at 7mths, he had his daughters done in the first couple months. My son had A severe case of acid reflux and stayed pretty sick until he was well over 2yrs old & didn't sleep a night until then. He didn't burp or spit up.. he would throw up, like literally lose his entire bottle! He threw up in his sleep several times & asphyxiated once and ended up in the hospital with pneumonia. His dad worked nights so yes i sure did put him in my bed, slept on my side & if he even breathed loud my eyes popped open😄 He Slept with me til he got better at 2.5 and that's the only way i could get any sleep & felt safe with him! Honey I jet my babies sleep when try wanted to sleep & wake on their own, except for nights then they had a bedtime. I didn't do scheduled feedings with either, they are when they got hungry. All babies are different & some require more it less than others. My Oldest weighed 10lbs, she required more.. 2oz was nothing but a sip for her😄 She started out with 4oz & quickly went to 6oz. I always used the diaper for the first wipe, and still do with my granddaughter! Yes girl..a diaper genie is the most stinky thing ever🤮 Nothing better than a couple of Walmart or grocery store bags to tie up your poopie diapers😁and put them in the trash! We take the trash out everyday anyways 🤷‍♀️ Thanks for the car seat hack! When my son & his wife decide to have another one I'll def tell them this one! My babies were always on my schedule, they turned out just fine😊 When I brought my babies home, we had the white wicker bassinets back then and i would keep it in the living room with the TV on so that they learned to sleep thru noise. I don't get it when a parent wants it to be quiet enough to hear a pin drop 🤷‍♀️ You had great tips, hacks & suggestions! Even though I'm older & won't be having more babies, I'm sure there's many that appreciate all the education they can get😊 Hope you have a blessed week!

This was an amazing video !!! I have a four week old and I'm so taking some of these with me on my parent journey. Also fun fact- I have a friend who works in child development and is a child psychiatrist and talked with her about co-sleeping and babies up to about 6-7 months won't have long term effects from co-sleeping. Our little man would be passed out in our arms or after a feed and as soon as we would put him down in his bassinet he would wake up screaming. We tried swaddling in 4 different ones, different ways of feeding, went for a lactation consult twice nothing was working unless he was with us in bed. so we talked to our doc then our friend and as long as your taking the necessary steps for safety co-sleeping is fine if it's right for your family. we are starting to "ween" him off of this now and its working really well :) So don't feel bad or like your doing something wrong mama's your not!!! remember what may work for your fam jam may not for someone else's and thats okay too :)

I'm a first time veteran mom. I'm 8 weeks pregnant. My due date is April 28. My advice to you is if your mental health is bad ask your doctor about getting back on your same prescription you were on before IF it is safe for the baby. It gets really tricky because you need your mental health but it's also good to get off particular medication before the baby is born to prevent withdrawal.

Nurse here. When I was working and told all my coworkers I was pregnant one nurse told me "Make sure to prep your nipples". I was like "What? How?" She told me when ever you get out of the shower just run the towel back and forth over them a couple times and it will help you nipples from cracking and/or bleeding when the baby gets here and starts breastfeeding. I thought it was weird but I couldn't stop thinking about this advice so I did. I had two kids and breast fed both and never even need lanolin for nipples ever. I don't know if it was the preparing or just luck but I tell every pregnant mom that now even if I sound crazy.

@@ninareagan8373 I wish someone would have told me to do this. I struggled so much with my extremely sensitive nipples and ultimately have given up breastfeeding because it’s so painful. I tried pumping instead of breastfeeding but even that hurt too much and my nipples would bleed and crack on day 1! This happened with all my babies, so I’ve formula fed. I also produced very little milk, but if it wasn’t so painful I would have kept going.

I have a 20 year old, an 8 year old and one on the way. I nursed both but did better with my 8 year old because I didn't have any knowledge or much help when I was 20 with my oldest. So def drink more water and have a good diet when nursing, but in addition to having them in your shirt(esp if you nurse until 2 yrs old like I did) you can use stretchy cardigans or those cute short sleeve light weight kimono things that you wear over stuff in the summer; they are so handy and easy to move baby where you need them, esp when they're a little bigger. And I usually wear sports bras, they are just as easy to pull up as underwire, but underwire just tends to hurt me in general even without pulling it up, everyone is different though, so try different things until you find what works for you and your body type. I loved this vid, I think so many new moms have misconceptions about having newborns and all the things we need to do as mothers(like waking and feeding because thats what the "professionals" say to do) so I am glad you kept stating that this has been done since the beginning of time. God gave us instincts for a reason, just like he did animals etc. Dogs dont need to be told what to do with their babies and neither do we. It's nice to have tips like in this video, and to be more educated, but we still need to understand that we naturally know what to do as well.:)

@@maryoleary2037 it’s my opinion. I found it to be very disgusting. The slurping and grunting sounds, throwing up the milk, spitting, the constant drooling. I thought of a tip, not necessarily newborns exclusively... Car seat protectors. Specifically to protect the seat of your car!! I know, all the car seat nerds gonna be bashing, I get it. I have a real aversion to tightening down as far as it needs without something in between. We were gifted a carseat protector from Target with our first, but honestly, it wasn't optimal. I started using yoga mats. Cut those athletic mats to the size of your seat & it's a great non slip, & added protector for your leather or cloth seats! ❤

Lily is so precious! Awesome info! Many of these things I figured out when I had littles, and excited for a few gems you mentioned I can tell my daughters! One suggestion, use coconut oil. Petroleum jelly, especially in the US can have chemicals in it if not properly refined. And coconut oil is antibacterial and nourishes the skin. Can even be used on their bums. ❤

Vaseline® Jelly is guaranteed to be triple-filtered, ensuring it is truly free from impurities and safe to use. This means that it can be used to protect and repair the skin. The ointment does not need to have antibiotics in it. Some antibiotic ointments can cause an allergic reaction. Moms love Vaseline for preventing diaper rash and it can also be used to protect minor cuts and burns, to soften skin, and to lock in moisture in dry, cracked skin. Stated by a dermatologist.
