I listen to Dr. Woods when I need expert advice. I couldn't imagine spending a summer with him. Enjoy, young man.

Nothing replaces hands on experience. Doesn't matter what you are doing. Books teach concepts, experience teaches just that, experience.

I worked for a research biologist on a federal aid project looking at pheasant nest success, brood movements, habitat use, etc, in east central Illinois for 2 summers. You’re right, I learned so much from in these field experiences, and fondly remember those days. Jason will too!

If I was younger i do that internship. I know about apprenticeship because i spent 5 years and 30 years in trades. But i chance to do that i would in a heart beat. JD the biggest thing you can do is listen and ask questions and what required of you. Along the way have fun. God bless

Awesome JD! I did an internship myself about 30 years ago. I teach high school government and economics and I teach my students about the benefits of internships. They are great “finishers” like what you are doing and if a young person is not sure what they want to do they are a great way to find out about a career before they sink a bunch of money into a degree they might not want. I have a small piece of land in northeast Pickens county AL so when Grant is done with you maybe I can get you to show me how to spruce it up!
