Just kinda got to me when someone ripped into me saying anyone who breeds or works with the spider are promoting defects and that we dont care about the snakes bc we breed them when they havevthe wobble. But i love the spidet gene and because of you im moving forward with it and doing what i want and love to do. So once again thanks and thanks for being a big part of this hobby and giving one on one advice and helping people out with their balls lol

Love the Timber Rattlesnakes. I'm blessed to live in an area in east Tennessee where I'm able to observe them in the wild almost on a daily basis in the warmer months of the year. Also agree that the less you can handle a venomous snake the better off you'll both be. Keeping photo records I'm able confirm that I'm observing some these Timbers from one year to the next. They're one of my favorite reptiles.

Hey Matt I have a question don't ball pythons need regular lighting EX: 12 hours bright, 12 hours dark? Kinda like a natural light cycle cause if not I'd really like to make some adjustments for my ball python Kai (no she doesn't have a heating bulb that emits light I forgot the ones that don't are called) and I ask this question because I just now realised hey you keep your snakes in a tub with little to no lighting source while you aren't tending to them so if you could inform me on what's right and what's wrong with that I'd greatly appreciate it have a nice day. :)
@OlympusReptiles6 жыл бұрын
Ball pythons typically don't need the 12 on 12 off cycle. That being said, it isn't going to hurt them either.

Why do you choose to feed live instead of frozen/thawed?
@OlympusReptiles6 жыл бұрын
Kira Cyr Because I have them, and a wild caught snake does better on live typically
@KCyrBlacKat6 жыл бұрын
In a previous video you mentioned doing this for your royals, too?
@OlympusReptiles6 жыл бұрын
Kira Cyr yes. I have found that I have a higher rate of successful feeding using live. That being said, if I have a snake (like cronos, my big carpet) who prefers f/t they get it. Basically, I do what I think is best for my snakes.
@dajoke246 жыл бұрын
Could you guys make a video on how to clean a snake's cage? I am looking into getting my first snake, and there aren't many videos on it. Do you just take paper towels and pick up the poop and urate and that's it? Do you need to replace the substrate? if so, how often? I will most likely go with a corn snake and a 40 gallon breeder setup that is natural with plants, and maybe clean up crew like isopods and springtails. Any help is appreciated.
@OlympusReptiles6 жыл бұрын
I spot clean (pick up poo etc). Then as needed deep clean. Dump it all scrub out wash with dishsoap
@lloydsaathoff6 жыл бұрын
So i tried to explain the wobble from my experience as well as what i learned from you. And i regret even trying most people thought the way i said it which is how i learned from you they thought it was informative and this guy just keeps on about its not hard to explain it hast to deal with the neural crest development and asked if i had any case studies....how can i like you educate people and share my passion if people simply try to discourage or prove you wrong. Its ok to take advise and give advice but its hard when someone just comes in when you give advise or try to help someone and tries to say what i said about the wobble isnt from the gene but nural crest development
@OlympusReptiles6 жыл бұрын
lloydsaathoff if you are talking about wobble in spider ball pythons, I do believe it is linked to the gene. All spiders have it. Now, if someone refuses to believe you, not much you can do. I just move on. I don't let one person get me down.

Very fascinating. These snakes are native to my area, and, unfortunately, exploited by those crazy snake preachers. And the milking thing is kinda misunderstood in the US. crofab uses sidewinder rattlesnakes only, I think. The only other use of the venom is research, I think. It's why I was so frustrated with some of the "venom hunter" nonsense on the Discovery Channel. Real milkers do not use wild caught snakes and milking should only be done when necessary.
