She is a major YES for me Laura. She looks so comfortable, she is the perfect look and size for you. Also her colors... she is an ode to your heart horse. You were so confident. She looked super safe as well, pretty unflappable. Shes everything you were looking for and more. If you get her you may want to invest in getting your own custom stock or western saddle, you may find her girthiness to disappear. But it could also be from many other things. You could always take her on trial.

I think that Penny would be a great match for you. She didn’t batt an eye when it came to the dog running or the squirrel that she rode past and she seemed like a calm and smooth ride but also forward and wanting to go places!

That was incredible, Laura. I’m not gonna lie, I teared up a bit seeing you ride. You’ve come so far. You looked comfortable and confident up there. Everything looked so natural, and she was the perfect size for you. Her color also really reminds me of Stella.. maybe that’s a sign. I’m so proud of you and so happy for you. It’s disappointing that Gabby wasn’t very supportive of you, but I think she’s just basing her judgement off of what she wants in a horse and not what you need. I personally think she would fit in so well with you guys. She looks great and very smooth. Something i would try about her ears going back while the saddle goes on is maybe just put the saddle on and the girth loosely but don’t ride and just do that a few times. Not sure if it will work but it’s worth a try 😅

Laura, the last horse didn't feel right, I just feel that you and penny will go so far together... Penny is the one, she looks really gentle and loving but also independent as you said, just for the future when going on trail rides... Use a GoPro that can either attach to your helmet or a band that can be attached around your chest area, so that if she does do something you can have full control without dropping the camera or having it in your hand ❤️😊🐴 YAY FOR PENNY

A horse ends up a direct reflexion of its owner, so in other words don’t blame the horse . Also horses don’t like screaming and sqeeling that much it makes them nervous

Laura, I really wish that you would be the one to get on her first. I feel like Gabby is a safety net for you and usually I would say that if you can't get on the horse first than you shouldn't get it butttttttt... you looked so amazing on her and you looked like a working team! I hope that you make the right decision, whether that be you get her or not. I think if you feel confident and comfortable with her, that’s amazing. No horse is going to be perfect. On trails you should let her go at her own pace! Regarding her attitude issue, it’s not really something you can work out of her, like my gelding is super bitey and grumpy and I spend all my time with him, give him lots of love and treats. it’s just something that they’re either born with or develop from a past owner. If you can get over the fact that she might be grumpy and girthy her whole life I’d say buy her but if you don’t want a grumpy horse and you want one who will cuddle up with you, be sweet and loving towards you, I would say she’s not the one. You can’t ever just change a horse’s personality and she’ll most likely always have that typical ‘mare attitude’

She seems like the perfect horse for you because she is forward going but not spicy, she seems pretty sassy yet sweet which I think is what you need. She is a lovely, sturdy girl and she's the perfect size for you and as you say she's really safe. I think this may be the horse for you ! Take her for a week or 2 week trial. Have her vetted and get a few lessons on her from either the passo barn or Brandon see what he thinks! IMO you look FANTASTIC. so much better than the other horse you tried. She fits you perfectly! Learning is a part of owning animals and life. I think you do will grow together! The only vote that matters is yours, Laura. I learned to ride on a Tennessee walker at the age of ten. I owned and showed an American Saddlebred in my late 30's and after 22 years away got back into riding at 62. I've ridden Kentucky Mountain horses which are awesome and gone back to my love of Saddlebreds. It's your decision. She's beautiful and you looked wonderful on her. :)

Laura I really hope you read this comment through, but watching you ride her actually brought tears to my eyes, seeing you riding like that and not just from a gopro or POV from your trails made me smile so much! All your videos are always you watching the girls and their friends ride and holy heck seeing you on the screen for once was amazing! Of course we’ve seen you in the past and we’ve seen you on storm and stuff but I’ve never seen you look so comfortable and smiling like that when you ride !! Of course you and the horsey are going to be nervous to start with, neither of you know each other, and *if* you decide to bring her home, she WILL maybe seem like a bit of a different horse to start with because it’s a new place, new horses & new people, she may be a bit jumpy or skittish, but she will settle as you do, I read somewhere once that a horse takes 6 months to be completely comfortable in a new place, so you have to give it time, you have to learn about each other and learn each other quirk’s, but oh my once you both settle with each other it will be amazing! And I’m sure you’d both have the happiest life together! I understand where Gabby is coming from on how she doesn’t like her and stuff, but at the end of the day, Gabby clearly wouldn’t like to own a gaited horse like that herself and that’s ok, because this horse is NOT for her! This is YOUR horse Laura, and Sophie seems to love everything, and I absolutely love that for her, she’s such a happy little horsey person and it’s amazing to watch! But either way, if you’ve decided to bring penny home, then good on you! You’re taking a jump into unknown faith and I truly hope you all get the best out of this and I’m so sure you will! Laura grumpy horses can turn to a loving individual . It happened with me, but I have been working with the horse for a year now with a lot of bonding and trusting and he is a totally different horse, he loves cuddles and treats galore now! Also he rarely bites and kicks now, Hopefully that helps.

This horse looks amazing!! I have the gut feeling that she is the new horse we will start seeing in your guys flogs for many many ( hopefully) many more years to come!! Also the half pads are great, even if you feel like your horse won’t need one, they are just great to have! I got my half pad about a few months ago, though I’ve had my horse for only 2 years. I’ve noticed she enjoys it so much more, and I do as well! It gives them some adding comfort for their spine and withers, and with my horse getting older, I want to be as light on those sensitive areas as possible! I think horses that are less affectionate form better bonds, my mare is like that she doesn’t really like people but we have a really good bond because they choose who they want, they aren’t just friends with everyone. My girl Grace had no affection at all when I got her, she was a ex race horse and just hated everything and everyone. But I just showed her respect and love and worked on ground work and natural horsemanship with her and she turned out to be the most loving horse. sometimes they make you work for it, but in return they reward you with something amazing. I had to put her to sleep three years ago but she will always be my one and only xxx

Laura, I think you should get her. Her and Stella are so much alike and they even look like the same horse. Ever since 2008 (the year I was born) i had a dog. In 2017 sadly he passed away. I grew up with him ever since I was a baby. He passed in the winter, and the following summer my dad’s friend called him and said he found a yellow lab (the same breed as ox), he said that he was almost 2 years old and was an awesome dog. So my dad bought him. We still have him now. After a few days of having him we found out he has the same birthday as my dad. My mom always says it’s ox coming back to us through him. I miss ox so very much, but I know he’s in a better place now and not in pain anymore, because it was hard for him to even stand up. So I’m positive penny is Stella coming back to you. ❤️

Laura she looks awesome. Don’t worry about affection. When I got my horse in February, my horse wouldn’t let me hug her, or even touch her face, she would whip her head up. Now in October I have gotten to the point I can touch her head 90% of the time. She has only walked up to the field with me once or twice, but it’s a start. I have done so much ground work and obstacles in a ring, we have gotten so far! Just do lots of ground work, she looks great!

Oh Gabby, always such a critic 🤣 Loved this mare for you, perfect size and you seemed so comfortable! Any horses can change. The horse I am leasing used to be super grumpy (bite, kick, constant ear pinning) but a change of environment made him a much happier boy. He actually comes to me in the paddock for kisses now. 😭

I have been riding horses for four years and I have always used a half pad half pads are used for more comfort not to change the fit of the saddle but if they don’t work for you that’s fine btw love love love your new horse she’s the one

When I was trying out horses I just had to listen to my gut feeling. So don't let someone else make the decision for you, if you like her and you have a good feeling about her that's great! And if you feel that maybe it's not the right fit that's ok too! It really comes down to how you feel when your around her and when you ride her. You looked good on her! She's beautiful 😍

I agree, being able to ride it doesn’t mean buy it in my book, there’s so much more that’s involved. From my understanding of you Laura, you want to feel an instant connection of some kind and a horse that’s affectionate, likes people, you’ll enjoy handling and being with. I was very proud of you to ride and go on the trail, but you really did need to do those things to see what she was like in different situations and having a horse that always needs to be at the front, can be a bit of a pain at times as you can’t always do that. She seemed like a nice mare (so reminded me of Stella, brought a tear to my eye) and you looked perfect size wise in my view. So lots to like, but it’s a big decision and you really need to try a horse more than once before you buy it, if at all possible. I might be wrong, but you just seemed so pleased that you were able to ride her, that I’m not sure how much more you were considering. Difficult to know at this stage what you’ve chosen to do as I definitely wouldn’t be ruling her out, I’m just not sure you felt that she was the one, of course I could be completely wrong 🤣Whatever your decision though, I believe you will have made the right decision for you 👍😊

I loved her and I think she’s a really good match for you! Mares can be grumpy at first but once you get that bond with them they’re so loyal and love their human !

I just cried so much I had to not wear my glasses watching this!!! I was so emotional for you abs not just because she looks similar to darling Stella Belle . Your confidence with Penny was beautiful, she was calm at the tie up, she stood for you to get on..., she did one step of canter and you pulled her in SHE LISTENED , you just cantered a strange horse that says it all💜 go with your gut Laura no horse is perfect no horse comes with guarantee but if they did this horse has it 😍 as far as not being so loving...we have Apple-Jack and we were told he was hard to catch and not loving... we brought him home and next morning we caught him easy and he’s the most loving boy ever... we are like you guys spending so much time with our horses, not even riding... just being and Penny probably hasn’t had that.... you are the human for her I feel it so strong ... tears again 💜

Size wise you looked great, but if you don't have that it's for me feeling it will come when you find your forever horse. My forever horse was my last one he had a heart of gold and was the babysitter even at 4yrs old. Kind sweet. Don't rush it will come
