This is a traditional parallel manipulator robot. Hardly revolutionary. But I do like the way you guys executed it. This design does have one big disadvantage though, your work volume is enclosed on three sides... You only really need to enclose it on two in order to fully function. If you remove one sidewall and only keep the upper surface and one wall and move the other rail to the corner between the two, you get the same effect with better space usage.

Parallel manipulators are very stiff and have high accuracy as well as typically being very lightweight. This usually means that they're very good at high speed high precision.
