Trouble is, 5g of this stuff costs about £4. ($5?) Someone suggested I use it to repair my wading boots. I reckon on about £20 per boot for the glue alone. I would have to be awfully confident in the stuff to go that. I'm not...

I love this! I restore and customize things. Mostly firearms and knives but I have a vintage Smith & Wesson knife with a black rubber handle with chunks out of it and a few gouges here and there, and I really think the black Sugru would work for this!

I buy glasses online in bulk because they break a lot. So I started using Shoe Goo and thread to bind and strengthen the hinges permanently open and make them strong. Since I never folded them anyway, just put them on my head. I think I will get some of this and see what headaches I can alive with it. I can already see me using it to fix my glasses to the head of my Bicycle helmet.

Ok so far I really like sugru. I just used it on my first project. If it works as well as you say i patched and retreded a pair of vibram azita loop shoes which are no longer made. I can think of hundreds of uses for this product if it works, but the price is a bit high for me to go too crazy with it. It is on Amazon. For 20 bucks I can only get 6 packs the size of about four American quarters. I will grant you that if this stuff works it is 1000 times more useful then superglue and may have as much versatility for me as my upholstery thread. Let's however face the fact that upholstery thread costs me about 12.00 every 2 to 3 months to create or fix anything my mind can conceive where as a projects with sugru take less time to do but are far more costly. It would be a good idea to see if you can come up with some workable bulk rates for serious hobbyists.

I have two questions: 1. Is the sugru moldable glue sturdy enough hold a coat with pockets filled? (e.g. wallets, phones, glasses cases) 2. Would it be able to hold a large calender. Even if I make the glues' hook as thin as a hole in a hole puncher? (I wish I could word that better)
@huiuiui96537 жыл бұрын
Paul Owen: I also asked this questions to myself. What I found is a material datasheet of Sugru which shows several testing results. There you can find for example the tensile strength what I find most helpful to answer your question. The unit therefore is MPa which is Newton/ square meter. Newton tells the force of it. sugru.com/pdfs/tds.pdf But be aware of that the actual strength of your hook would depending on the length and angle of the hook itself, the position where you place your jacket on the hook (again because of the angle) and also the material of your wall. So I would suggest just to try it instead of following physical calculations! 😊👌

Sugru is awesome. But it is WAY TOO PRICEY to become a toolbox staple. Sorry. It was justified maybe the first year or two, for R&D and establishing the product. We get it :) But now, now way I'm regularly buying Sugru. I bought one pack! One pack, and used one piece of the 3, and am keeping the rest like diamond or gold. @Sugru, SURELY that's not how you expect people to use it! MAKE IT LESS EXPENSIVE PLEASE!! Until then, people are motivated to find alternatives like Oogoo and whatnot, or will clone yours. Just make it normal affordable.

I was so looking forward to trying this. marketing was savvy and cool and it looked to be a great product ...however.....once I opened the individual wrapped package a nasty chemical smell hit me in the face. Following the simply laid out directions I gloved up and started kneading the product between my fingers , it was like kneading bits of polystyrene these crumbs would not knit together no matter how much I tried at this stage I pretty much predicted that this product would stick to jack and I was right, it stuck to nothing in fact it actively repelled everything I tried to stick it to. Disappointed? yes and more than a little annoyed at wasting my money.

Sugru 10% is nowhere near enough. Unfortunately I’m sure Sugru will never come down to the price where you would see it in every home. I don’t know if greed is a factor but, what I do know is there are people working on other types of products to accomplish the same result at a substantial price reduction. I’m sorry but not only high price but the bad reviews will keep me away from making any purchases any time it the near future.
