​@Rusty Shackelford im not saying no ball cam is useless, im saying use both but majority have ball cam on, and talking sports, in soccer example, majority of the game u are looking at the ball (ball cam on), for eg wen ur running down the wing and ball is in midfield, ur facing and running down the wing but staring to ur left/right where the ball is, so ur arguement is kinda stupid as in sports like basketball and football, ur eyes are majority of the times looking at the ball regardless of the direction ur body is facing(thats y ur neck was made.......). if ur using the settings of the boys in the vid, if im running down the wing (same example) im not going to be able to look at the ball properly, so do u even watch sports?

@Rusty Shackelford so having ball cam off and turning left and right is disorienting, u use ball cam off most of the times when ur not turning much eg going for a boost or trying to air dribble which again doesnt require turning ur car much. u use ball cam on wen ur turning but u dont want to lose track of the ball, just like in sports which u ironically brought up, i play soccer, and im looking at the ball nearly the whole game and the players legs

I think the day that these guys fully embrace the use of ball cam as well as no ball cam, they'll soar through the ranks. I can definitely tell they have much more mastery without ball cam than I do, which can be a very good thing, and I'm at C2. Imagine what they'd do if they mastered both!

Took me forever to get to GC, at one point I turned off console players matching and that made a huge difference. I couldn't even double jump aerial(effectively) when i hit c2, I was just really good at aiming/passing.

Honestly after looking their play, I think it might be a useful training tool to do every now and then to force getting better awareness of the ball and players. Also, I love that Sledge forced both teams to go out of their element with cams. It wouldn't have been nearly as fun or fair to force just the car cam players to switch. Awesome move :D

For my first year playing RL, i played with a friend every single day. He would always played goalie and stayed behind all game. After watching replays from his POV i found out he used car can 99% of the time. I tried convincing him for months to use more ball cam but he was too stubborn. Watching these champs run back to net and spin to face the field is exactly what my friend used to do.

You can either learn to drive around a static object(the field, walls, boost pads) by mostly muscle memory, or you can try to react to the only constantly changing element on the field(the ball). Now, the biggest key is that nobody uses 100% of one cam or the other. You quickly flick to whatever you need

One of my closest friends, and the first friend I've made through rl was playing without ball cam all the way up until mid diamond, then and only then did they slowly start mixing in turning on ball cam into their gameplay and now they are mid champ using ball cam a lot more than before i'm still surprised by their gameplay with no ball cam like it was just an entire "?" to me the entire time I've known them lmao

I think it’s interesting to see the difference in camera settings between the two types of players. I know that when I used to main car cam I had a huge field of view and my camera was super far from my car so I could see more, just like the car cammers here. Then once I switched to mostly using ball cam, my camera settings switched to being closer to my car for more control.

I used to only use car cam from Supersonic Battle Cars and into the first years of Rocket League on the PS, and not only did it feel more 'right' on car cam, it actually gave me motion sickness when trying ball cam. Then I switched full time to ball cam, got used to it, and now if I put it on car cam (just to test) it gives me motion sickness quickly and feels 'wrong' compared with ball cam. Basically a complete reversal for me in terms of what felt more 'right' or 'wrong' and gave me motion sickness or not. With ball cam, I only start to have motion sickness if I play like seven or more matches in a row, (or if I play for 30 seconds on Nintendo Switch.)

Yea like I'm playing ball cam like 60% of the game but when I'm doing something with the ball like I'm mainly using car cam to be more precise (dribbling, powers shot, aerial...) When I use it I can decide to shot left by touching the ball right easier than without like I don't have to predict ball movements to calculate my position

I'm a champ and altho i use ball cam like most people, i use maximum transition speed and often spam the ball cam button when retreating so I 1) don't run into teammates and 2) collect small boost pads efficiently. I also use the camera swivel frequently to keep track of my teammates to my direct left or right.

I started using ball cam once I hit diamond 2. I was just playing with my friends and I missed an aerial and they jokingly said “do you use ball cam” and I replied “no.” From that point on I have started using ball cam and hit champ 3. Apparently it is very useful.

That is some weak shit, if they sticked with ballcam, after a month, they will definitely realize why it’s a necessity to play your best. Just like it’s hard to switch to different binds after you’ve played default one’s for a while, it takes few weeks to get them down but it is so worth it in the long run. I really hope they force themselves to get used to ballcam after this video, they definitely can. If there are clear reasons why ball cam is better for most situations, I don’t see a single reason why anyone wouldn’t switch to it🤦‍♂and im c2 and truly dont think they are that good from the vid i watched

What I've learned from this video is that ball cam on or off isn't that important, What *IS* important is knowing how to switch between them for different situations. There were many situations where they weren't able to properly defend the ball because they couldn't see the attacker lining up the shot behind them. They also seemed to be moving around the field slower as they were doing things like backflipping instead of half flipping to move back to their net (which helps the camera stay on the action, AKA what ballcam would do). imho if they learned to use ballcam as something they briefly toggle on (instead of most of us who briefly toggle it off) they would be much better at the game overall. tldr; I'd never dribble in ball cam, I'd also never shadow defend with ball cam off. Ball cam on is good, Ball cam off is good, using *only* is either is what's bad.

Tbf I played at least the first 6 months of RL with no ball cam, became a master of judging when to hit shots based on reticles. Helped my dribbling. I am going to grind out my 8 more champ wins for the rewards when i can and then im definitely more open to dust off the triangle button and try out ball cam now and then. I have tried a few custom training exercises using only ball cam so you never know!

@@donairdaddy7582 just keep in mind you can and should use both like using car cam to see boost and dribble so the cam doesn’t go completely wonky. But you can use ball cam for rotating and just about everything else. That’s how I play atleast. Just remember even if u play primary car cam use the ball cam to see the ball and to shadow. Overall your definitely a good player just need that lil boost. Gl with the change

It's crazy how good they are without ball cam. Like everyone else is saying, stuff like half flips and shadow defense are only really possible with ball cam, I bet if they were able to get half decent with it they'd instantly jump up a few ranks, at least to champ 3. It's like a basketball player who can only do layups, but scores them 99% of the time. They're great at what they do, but if they add a midrange or 3 point shot they instantly become so much better

I got all the way through platinum basically diamond without ever using ball cam and one day I forced myself to use it on an alt and just worked on it for weeks and didn’t go back to my main. I am now a champ 2 ball cam really helps although to this day I still use about 50/50 ball cam to non ball cam. I feel like I have some advantages coming from this background like dribbling and ground control but my weakness would definitely be Ariel control now

The thing is that strength of "dribbling and ground control" is something players who use both have already, using only car cam limits your awareness so severely. You can have the best of both worlds by just learning ball cam

I mean the controls don't invert when you switch. Your car moves left if you turn left in either camera but I can see the point if it's being applied to just the camera perspective itself. Personally I used to only use car cam up until i got into plat or so. The switch definitely disorientated me for a little while but like anything, you get used to it.

Even when they were full ball cam and saying how do you see this or line up the shot or get boost…like that’s when you switch to car cam. When they were getting scored on and missing easy back aerials on car cam that’s when you turn on ball cam. You can easily see when you need both so I think these guys are crazy for going that far.

Half flipping would make him lose sight of the ball in the situation. No saying it's right, but these guys have a total different method and you can see why they do certain things.

I have the opposite problem. Turning ball cam off doesnt enter my input rotation, and I know it screws me sometimes. Not as much as I screw myself but it definitely occurs.

I'd love to see a video with these same players but both teams using the same camera settings. I feel like the car cam players could've done better with ball cam if they had better camera settings. Theirs were optimized for car cam by being really far away which often hinders accuracy using ball cam.
