Because Chinese labor is now only 4% cheaper than U.S. labor, there’s been an influx of Chinese investment in the U.S. - from just over $2 billion in 2011 to nearly $55 billion last year. WATCH NEXT: This exiled Chinese billionaire uses KZbin to wage a war on corruption - bit.ly/2klZzAe

That's right. But if you are producing that means adding value to something. That means you need infrastructure and skills. For many products that's difficult in most of the rural areas.

Jab Left Hook I am Chinese and I like to share the culture differently and some similarities. It’s interesting to seeBoss came to the plant and asked to changes the direction of the door and the position of a emergency bell, We feel the American Boss the same way here in China, same arbitration. The difference here is Chinese workers won’t want to bargain for better working condition or better wage, if they feel fair, they would like to stand with Boss and work hard to make the company more competitive, so they say they are in same boat with boss. if they feel unfair or they don’t like the boss, they will find another ‘boat’ rather than barging.

I'm going to comment on the 24 violations thing. Granted, I only have 4 years of manufacturing experience, and never worked in management, I can share some truth on what's it's like from the perspective of a 'grunt'. The truth is, no matter how many safety policies you put in place, it is always up to the individual employee to stick to those safety policies. All of the injuries and risks I've seen on the job, have been due to the employee's own laziness/carelessness/aloofness. People not locking/tagging out machines correctly. People not cleaning up the floors. People trying to cut corners. There are a lot of safety regulations in the US, and that is good, we should continue instituting more policies as needed, but the individual employee will always have the last word as to whether his actions will result in a terrible outcome. Just my two cents.

One tiny detail that has been not mentioned is: For Fuyao the reopening was cheap, average salary in the USA is 12 USD/h, so many workers must be below what they earned in the past with GM 12 yr ago, lets assume aprox. 18 USD/h (which is a 33% salary reduction compare to now. With an avg. inflation increas of 1,46% per year; the 18 at past time would be now 20 USD/h to compensate inflation rate) So the company is paying in avg. 12-20=-8 USD/h of what they used to, by 1000 employees and 160 h/month of work, Fuyao saves $ 1,28M every month or $12,8M/yr only in salaries !!! So 1000 people that need to leave below the first world standard of life. If we talk about tax income to the city, lets assume 50% of the 12,5 % tax goes to the state. On the $ 12,8M a not neglectable ammount of $ 800k/yr is getting lost and an othe $ 800k/yr to the goverment. The worst part of it, the company might be selling their product saying proudly made in USA and claiming to pay USA salaries. Although this might not be happening in many cases. Side note: Fuyao may benefit from local tax advantages. Which then also means one city that needs to manage a population of thousand people in a high cost country with a second world country budget. The tendency is to destroy the community.
