3:21 is heresy, this is a paradox game, it need to be as wide as eye can see and it is deep enough to dive into. We need more dynamic and engaging ground combat! it has been done before and it can be done now.

Keep the armies! Just expand them from basic bean counting. The history of science fiction is littered with alien invasions and resistance. This is the undiscovered country for Stellaris.
