The reason the werewolves are afraid of water is because lycanthropy is thought to be a misunderstanding of people getting rabies (wolves with rabies bite people, people get rabies, people with rabies bite more people) and in this game the lycanthropy is treated as basically super rabies. One of the side effects of rabies is its effect on the body's neurons, which interferes with the swallowing process. When we see water, we subconsciously prepare ourselves for swallowing, but rabies messes this up and causes violent, painful choking spasms. Basically, the sight of water causes them to feel like they're choking.

Has anyone else noticed how Max is just so sweet, to the very core? Most of the people in this game that get infected and start to turn begin to act really aggressively. Max just talks about how warm he feels and tells Laura not to be so close, even with the werewolf fighting its way out of him. Underrated character.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that either someone got bit by Silas who we saw at the first part of the game get called a "wolf boy" or the fire that burned the camp down was caused by someone and they got cursed. It's possible that Silas was a werewolf and that's why he was called a wolf boy at his attraction. The townspeople could've attacked the traveling people* because of it and that's why their stuff was burned and what the fire was about. And there's the ghost lady who even said something like "they did this to us" and called Silas' name a few times. Edit: changed a word to ppl bc I didn't know the og word was a slur, apologies 🙏

Ik we're all used to characters adapting straight away so we can get on with the game part and fight some fucking werewolves, but these games are more about story, and as bad as some of the character writing is, they still have a bunch of good elements and pieces, including a couple characters that are like, "What the hell are you talking about, what the fuck just happened, how can I trust anything I'm seeing??" Honestly, how would you react? This mindset, while not very favorable and "weak/annoying" is probably the most realistic (i get annoyed by it too btw, so this reply is basically just a big, "i agree, BUT ALSO")

There's also the narrative mechanic of the dumb guy pointing out the danger, as way to highlight how supposedly smarter characters are skipping right past the correct answer. Something similar was done in GoT, when Joffrey was questioning Tywin in the throne room and brought up the potential danger of Daenarys' dragons, only for Tywin to dismiss them out of hand. It's a way of making the audience sit up and go, "Wow, how dumb/conceited/oblivious are all the rest of these clowns if HE'S the one that got it?"

​@@aliasfakename3159 SPOILERS!!! my theory is that during summer camp, they spend the full moons in the cages at the mansion, since there is a letter that you can find there which says something about the cages being strong enough to keep chris, kaylee and caleb at bay. the same letter also says that after camp, kaylee and caleb can keep helping with hunting silas, so i guess the family didn't want to chance missing out on finding silas just because the camp counselors were still there. they probably also assumed that they would just stay in the lodge and nothing bad would happen, so kaylee and caleb stayed outside and when they realised that the counselors did not do what chris had told them to do, it was already too late. i have no explanation for why chris is the only one who stays chained up at the mansion, tho.

Sure, the stranger could've spoken up sooner but to be fair he tried and got Emily screaming at him. Josh intentionally kept things vague and of the main kids none knew anything for sure, except Mike maybe later in the game when there is little time to chat. Here we have more than a family full of characters that know the truth and particularly the ones that could share info like Travis and Laura are deliberately not doing that and it is frustrating as hell. But yeah, underneath it all both games are fun.

Okay, I LOVE Dylan. The dude got bit and without knowing at all that it was a werewolf, was just like ''yep chop my whole hand off'' and now he's just absolutely chilling with no hand and with no care in the world. And the part with him Laura and Ryan and Laura was telling them about werewolves, Dylan was just like ''yeah seems legit''. Then he just goes off with Kaitlyn again with only 1 hand. He's amazing and I really hope he doesn't die. I also hope Ryan doesn't die because Dylan and Ryan seem really cute. I've seen gore movie (and even if I didn't watch gore movie), you would scream-no, *howling* in agony harder than warewolf. And you wouldn't be able walking around like him with open wound of post-amputee.

@@valhatan3907 Dylan would have actually bled to death. Think about it, no one cauterized his wound, there was no tourniquet and they didn't even have gauze or anything to soak up the blood. They just wrapped some cloth around it and somehow magically that stopped the bleeding and he was able to walk around for miles as well as move his arm just fine despite how fucked his nerves currently would be. The most he is suffering from is a bad mood but all of them are. Laura's eye is one thing and yes it would be painfully but Dylan not really reacting much as his hand got sliced off with a chainsaw (definitely not the best, cleanest or least painfully way to take off a hand and would actually cause severe damage to the surrounding area resulting in more blood and pain.) Is just proof that the devolpers really didn't care about immersion.

Honestly, it seems like the Hackett family isn't very good at the whole "protecting people from werewolves" thing. It's hard to not feel bad for Travis x.x While he presents himself as a jerk at first, he seems to genuinely be someone who wants to do good and is sick of the cycle of death his family has created. Worse, the interactions with his family really paint a picture of him coming across as little more than a tool to them, expected to do a job but never receiving love. It also sounds like they manipulate him a lot (i.e. claiming he'd never really have his job on his own, clearly making promises that there would be no more murder only to obviously break it by being angry that he didn't do such later on).

So a lot of people are confused about why the Werewolves in the game look more like the Wendigo creature design in Until Dawn, and not at all like actual Werewolves, and I think its because they're supposed to be Lycanthropes, not Werewolves! Lycanthropes and Werewolves are derived from the same mythological creature, Lycans being from Greek folklore and Werewolves being from English folklore, but they're actually very different creatures (similar, but wholly their own). Lycanthropes have more human characteristics than Werewolves; no body hair, stubby almost human noses, more intelligence, more defined muscle density, etc. Whereas Werewolves are much more wolf-like; covered in hair/fur, snouted, far more instinctual, and less muscular. The 'infection' works basically the same for the two (you get bit, you're infected), but a Lycan can infect a person with a bite even in human form, where a Werewolf has to be transformed to infect someone with a bite. The transformations, however, are entirely different. Lycans have full control over their transformation and can change forms at will anytime they want, whereas Werewolves have no control over their transformation at all. If you're a Werewolf, you unwillingly transform on the full moon no matter what. Their weaknesses also differ; Lycans can only be killed by severing the spine (silver only weakens them), and Werewolves are killed using silver bullets. So, funnily enough, the Werewolves you see in things like Twilight and Teen Wolf, are actually closer to Lycanthropes! They honestly kind of blended the two beings together for the creatures in the game; they have the appearance of a Lycan, a Lycans transference of infection, the transformation of a Werewolf, and the weakness of a Werewolf. So if you're wondering why the 'Werewolves' in the game don't look like a conventional Werewolf (or maybe just interested in some juicy folklore), there you go!" It’s with any game or movie that describes or shows urban legends. They legend’s description fits the beast, but it doesn’t fit the looks. Originally, the wendigo was a weird deer skull wearing humanoid creature that traps humans with a shape-shifting ability, sorta like the wendigo in Until Dawn, it’s just that the two wendigos do not look the same. Same thing with the werewolves here, they have the same descriptions, just not the same looks in any way at all.

The characters in this game are way to chill about losing a body part. That kid got his hand cut off with a dirty chainsaw and the biggest reaction he gave us was “why did you do it bro”. Laura lost an eye and she’s like “well, time to look around the station for tarot cards”. I would scream and cry and faint from the pain and stress. And what about blood loss and feeling weak?

Ryan is the type to like stories but make excuses to rationalize why they can't be real. I don't think it's out there. People like that are very real and will do everything to rationalize what they don't believe is possible.

I feel like Kaitlyn is really similar to Laura when it comes to character. They both adapted to the situation really fast and are pretty calm through most of the things that are happening even tho it’s new and surely scary. Definitely fav characters alongside with max. I’m still surprised that he can stay normal and calm in his normal form (nick started getting really angry and violent)

I think it’s just the fact that she’s a bit too calm for most of the time is what makes it unrealistic. but even that can be her reaction to stressful situations which would be normal I guess and totally understandable

I think that when it comes to Nick, he was already a closeted asshole playing the harmless pretty boy in order to get close to Abi. Turning into a werewolf just made his facade fall apart more easily. (At least him calling her dumb and calling himself something like "big dick Nick" gave me that impression.) Max on the other hand is just genuinely a good guy.

@@mateleacloverae yeah but Laura also had a few moments when thirst of blood was almost too strong to overcome and max as much as I’m aware never even had a moment like this, for example scene when Laura had to snap back in order not to kill Ryan. so I think max is an exception. There was something with becoming violent before the final change and he was violent only after he became a werewolf. He genuinely was too pure for this world haha. But I totally agree that nick is just a dick no matter in which form and that was probably it for him.

The only reason she got her eye back is because she was bit and didn't cut off her arm, the infection has spread too much already. I agree, though, as a 23yo girl who is missing an eye, I was so fucking pumped for her to be a badass, one-eyed heroine, but nOPE! And: "streamer mode just replaces most of the soundtrack with different songs." or something like that.. idk. Haven't played the game, don't think there's any trace of NSFW stuff. Gotta say, streamer mode is literally the worst feature in this game. The music doesn't even fit in any of the situations. It's basically to comfort you if you get scared easily.
