I had the privilege of hearing him live today. Never in my life have I experienced the feeling that time has stopped and space has somehow changed, opened up. Tonight, whenever he played in Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 2 without orchestra accompaniment, it happened. I was just like that: 😳 Incredible concentration and some special kind of strong charisma that drew the whole audience in. I've been to hundreds of concerts, I'm a musician, I've seen many of the world's stars and really enjoyed them - but today was the first time I've had such an experience.
