Creative expression is part of what makes us human - why should that end after we've passed on? In Ghana, Anang Kwei and his children help the families of the deceased celebrate the lives of their loved ones with custom-made, handcrafted coffins. And when we say custom-made, we mean custom. From colorful fish to cars or tools, whatever a family wants to represent an aspect of the life that was, the Kweis will deliver a fantasy coffin made with care and exquisite craftsmanship.

This was a fun discovery and takes me back to my MBA program, where our group (for the Marketing class) needed to come up with a pretend company to promote. We chose custom coffins, with shapes that included a yellow submarine, a photon torpedo, and footballs with the logos of the deceased's favourite team. We had no idea back then (early 2000's) that this was already a thing, and in Ghana of all places! 🥰

I know he said he delivered a piece to Los Angeles, but I think it would be very difficult to sell coffins likes this here in the States, as we have so many rules and regulations for burying our dead...perhaps if it fit into an watertight liner...
