Hey Abigail! Hail and well met! I discovered your channel about a week ago. I love your stuff. (Yes, I have my own copy of Pattie's book, and it looks very much like yours!) I'm an old-school hippie from the Bay Area and a bygone era - and I never "sold out" and am still a poor-as-dirt artist today (actually my 62nd birthday is this 7 April) as I was when I was 6 years old, when this stuff was popular. (My dad had BOTH the White Album AND John & Yoko's Two VIrgins (in a plain brown wrapper) that he bought in '68, think it would be worth something someday. I grew up psychedelic, and lived in Los Gatos, on El Gato Lane, in a neighborhood where even some Hell's Angels lived. (My dad told visitors that the "Angel's don't shit in their own neighborhood!" Oh... those WERE the days... although not all wonderful, as I had friends whose older siblings were worried they would be sent to the VIetnam-meat-grinder, or their brother or boyfriend would. Heavy. How's this: my friend's brother takes me into his room filled with black light posters and pot smoke (I'm only 11) and he says, "I was on acid the other day and Jimi (here, he points to a Jimi Hendrix poster above us) and he came right on down and had a conversation with me!" But, Abigail. that's not what I came here to tell you. It's just this: I watched this very video of yours, said to myself, "hey, I bought that stupid Wonderwall album when I could barely afford it and was expecting another All Things Must Pass, and I never saw the stupid movie!" And in your video, you said I could watch it for free, right here on YT. So, last night, I did, and I thought, "hey... this movie would make a cool 6 minute music video!" So I made one! Here's what I did, and finished about 10 minutes ago: I took George's 42 minute album and made a medley of the good songs into about a 6 minute track. I took the party scene from Wonderwall, slowed it down 59%, and then added about a dozen still-shots of my favorite scenes. And that's all she wrote! So, Abigail, thanks so much for your inspiration, and I'll be watching whatever you put on your channel. I dig all the costumes you are designing for yourself. Here's the link: George Harrison - Wonderwall Music Video (mark's videos): kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3Orn39oZt2Hn6M Caio!

No way I just discovered this album about two weeks ago (I’ve been on the hunt for an original pressing ever since) and have become obsessed with them and their history and went down this rabbit hole I found a list of album covers that they had designed and listened to all of them (which sent me down another rabbit hole and a great journey of music discovery) visited Marijke’s website and listened to her and Simon’s two albums I was fawning to know more about them and then you drop this video, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect (today also happens to be my birthday) it feels like this video was made for me! Sorry for the yap session but thank you this video was amazing ❤

I'm a "near fool" - born on 2 April. I remember The Fool very well. Their artwork and that of Peter Max shaped my world in the 1960s. When I caught a first look at the artwork on Eric Clapton's Gibson SG, that I knew it was the work of The Fool. The Fool, as a band, was very eclectic - very innovative. I appreciated that. I still do. Many thanks, Abigail Devoe. You look gorgeous in that attire!

I had a copy of this album and knew 75% of the story, so thanks for filling in the gaps. Despite being a year late seeing that Graham Nash was the producer and Graham Bond was involved sealed the deal for me. Did not know about them not being musicians, which makes this album even more amazing. I still listen to the entire album several times a year, it is as unique as Trout Mask Replica or The Fugs First Album. Marijke is a facebook friend and is always producing new art. I've owned over 3,000 vinyl albums in my life including Seemon & Marijke's Son of America. Nice stuff Abby.

Didn´t fool me with this cool video as I knew of The Fool back then, even had 2 of Marijke´s posters, `Love Life´ and `Bob Dylan´ thro the 70´s. Check out 3 of the Blues Pills albums that feature Marijke´s artwork. The 2014 self titled debut has a multi coloured version of the love life poster. The 2015 "Live" and the 2016 "Lady In Gold" albums have new designs by her. A fun fact/obscure connection I´ve just dug up is Marijke was a member of the choir on Cyrus Faryar´s ´71 solo debut album, Cyrus Farar is the narrator on The Zodiac - Cosmic Sounds.

Gorgeous outfit, gorgeous lady, and gorgeous episode (and that necklace! ). As an artist i have always loved the art of The Fool. I was a kid in the sixties and i must say more and more in the flowing lines and bright colors i can definitely seen their influence specifically and of Pop Art in general in what i do. I do have my OG Sgt. Pepper mono with their inner sleeve. A treasure. I also think it was absolutely criminal that the Apple Boutique mural had to be white washed. Why is it that the establishment has no love of beauty? Hippy bad, conformity good. I don't think so. Have fun and a great day.

We would bicycle to this record shop on Hollywood Blvd that sold English imports. On that particular day I picked up The Move and Crazy World of Arthur Brown and he took a chance and got The Fool. @russdowns 0 seconds ago I knew who these characters were, but never had any interest in their musical musings. I had to find this and skim through the album. Very 60’s, Christian, Hare Krishna fireside singing, or being trapped at a party by a pretentious want to be songwriter who saw God while on acid… The piece that caught my funny bone was them sniffing in time to organ, and some type of wind instrument solos. Thanks for sharing this. It’s funny how readily record labels were willing to put money behind anybody who was famous. This is right up there with William Shatner reciting the lyrics to Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds! I do admire how dedicated you are to the whole 60’s ethos! Carry on, peace and love!

I must confess I only had very loosely their art on my radar. So this episode was really helpful. And very much entertaining as always. Speaking of iconic visual artists from the summer of love era doing music and accidently sounding like groups from decades later: There is Hapshash & The Coloured Coat and their self titled debut freak out album (which they themselves did not take serious at all): their epic "Empires Of The Sun" which consumes the entirety of side two sounds like The Fall in the early 80ies. All that is missing is Mark E. Smith's mumbling and yelling.

I found the CD of the Fool’s lone album one day at some record store, sometime in the 90s. I had known the album itself was hard to find, so with the price being modest enough I bought. Now I have to say I lean more towards early to mid 60s in terms of taste, with a chunk of the psychedelic era sailing over my head. BUT I LIKED THIS ONE! You have to be in a more open mind frame for stuff like this, and even with that factor, a chunk of this stuff can fall flat on its face. The Fool was an exception where artists like Donovan, Melanie and the ISB can slip. Good work, Abby!

nice to see the host with something she is more personally enthused about, and more dressed up for, than normally. Have to hand it to the dutch culture. As a seafaring nation, centuries of contact with other cultures in trade instead of conflict serves them well. The family dog was another art collective who was very influential in the look of the hippie era, doing all of the rock posters for the Phil Grahams shows, and, if memory serves, the light shows at their inception.

Love to see this band/design collective? get some love. Their sole album is a must hear of psychedelic music/psych folk. I don't understand the Beefheart connection, honestly. This isn't just weird to be weird. The Fool is psych folk! It's in the realm of Incredible String Band, COB, Comus, Piper at the gates, Satanic Majesty, Donovan's Sunshine Superman, Broselmaschine, in other words, the greats! Also I know the lyrics may come across as childish if you're not open to them or have no way of relating to them, but I really admire them. They clearly set out to make a spiritual album from front to back. A lot of spiritual truths here. One side black, one side white, one way wrong, one way right, the way that's black will bring you back into the white...
