I’ve always known about Benjamin Banneker when I took AP African American history while I was in High School during the Mid 1980s. There are so many great black inventors such as Granville Woods who developed the railroad telegraph that transmitted messages. There was also Elijah McCoy who developed a device that lubricate steam engines. The history of black America is there, it’s just so much of are history is not taught. You have to take it upon yourself to look for that knowledge, because we have contributed so much to building this country. ❤

The narrator spoke the words that this proved that intelligence was not a matter of color, but colonizers saw the inventions in Africa first hand and deemed the people barbarous in nature. Not only did they snatch these intelligent human beings from their homes but also tried some many times to dumb down their existence. Still the laureate and poet Maya Angelou wrote,”And Still I Rise.” Thank you to all who have proven time and time again that humanity started in Africa and will always be a beacon for the learned community.
