Meet the keeper team and watch us do our first annual Zoolympics hosted by our very own Hannah - our Head Keeper. Crazy challenges including wheelbarrow obstacle course, vegetable cutting and tug-o-war.
It was international Zookeeper Appreciation week last week, so it was time to catch up with our Keeper team and formally introduce them to KZbin.

@NorthumberlandZoo I had a zoo keeper experience day with your team yesterday and I have to say it was fantastic. Your keepers are so friendly and full of information. I have struggled to retain everything I was told about but I had such a fabulous day. So brilliant! I'm glad you got some clips of the Zoolympics - I've heard about these many times but never actually seen any!!! I know it's a lot of work. Yes, Ben and Elizabeth, I completely understand the whole zoo visiting thing. I've been to many with a certain head keeper over the years!! Thank you. Great idea to meet the keepers.... lovely team. You've got quite a wishlist of animals to add to the collection 😂

Nice video. Congrats to all keepers. I'm happy that I don't have to manoever wheelbarrows at any point in my life!/ I was wondering why Ben was making " mud pies", thanks for the explanation that he was creating tarantula habitat. /the tapir is very appreciated, I guess that he is very socialized to humans. Is there a tapir - specific video yet? Your video was filmed in decent weather : kudos to the keepers for performing their responsibilities in all kinds of miserable weather and situations.

Aw I literally just commented on one of the tour videos saying you should do a meet the keeper video. Its great to hear from them, they're a great bunch! Perhaps similar video for the staff that aren't keepers would be nice too! I would love to see you get przewalski horses (massive horse addict) and red pandas for something different :)

Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching 🙏🏻 We decide what animals to get depending on what habitats/areas we have naturally available and which animals are suited to our northeast England climate generally! We don’t want to be using excessive energy fighting against the elements to keep an animal that doesn’t appreciate the cold and the wet. Great question! 👍
