IM COMING FOR THE LEAF CUTTERS ALONE 😂😂😂 What species of leaf cutter ants do you have on display here? I have acro’s here at home iv been growing them since a very young founding colony, their doing great! What temps do you keep them at? I have mine at 24.5c - 26c tops, supposedly a queen can die or turn infertile if shes exposed to 30c+ just asking as i was at butterfly world in stockton on tees last week and they have acros also but their temps were 32c which i was super surprised about! Anyways excited to come see the zoo with my family, me and the mrs is gonna bring our daughters 👍🏻 Its an excuse for me to see the ants hahahahha

It's crazy that it's been a year since you did the last zoo tour! Where does the time go?! I love seeing the behind the scenes bits that we wouldn't usually see! Its great to hear the crayfish conservation is moving forward I was just thinking today when I visited I wondered how it was going. I also dropped the young trees off today Maxine, they said you weren't around so Keith took them over for Jeff 😊

Great video as always, knowing that you guys are a smaller zoo, they tend to have smaller and lesser interesting enclosures, but that was definitely not the case. It really looked cool and i was really surprised by some of the species you peeps care for. Excited for part two - Also a bit of weird question, but does the zoo offer paper versions of the map?

Thank you 🙏🏻 we haven’t actually had a paper map since 2019… which is mad! We’ve got the app now with the digital map. But, we are thinking about a zoo guide - what do you reckon?

@@NorthumberlandZoo I'm a huge zoo fan, and the way i like to collect souvenirs, is the zoo map/brochure of the zoo/from the zoo! So i would love to have paper maps (from sustainable sources ofc.) I also recently visited Barcelona Zoo, and they did not have a physical map, which made me a bit sad... So that's why i liked paper maps!

Honeybees are agricultural animals and don't need conservation.. There's not much research done on it yet but some studies even show that honeybees displace wild bee species that actually struggle.

100% totally agree - however, honeybees are an easy one for visitors to understand as its a species everyone knows, they can get local products from them and they represent the pollinators in general. UK native Bumblebees are struggling as are other pollinators. Would be interesting to understand if beekeeping is definitely having a negative effect on native pollinators - that is such a shame as well as I doubt anything would be done about that as it is a huge business. It would also be interesting to compare the effects of the Native Black Honeybee to the European Honeybee which most keepers keep. 🤔
