I've found KGV to be tailor made for mid-close range brawling and Madden is a perfect fit. KGV's strengths are in its relatively fast reload speed and its hidden perk of healing medium damage as well as the typical light damage. Madden's base trait plus Brawler maximizes the reload speed and close range target aquisition/tracking while Master Mechanic will have you shrugging off any damage but a citadel. The weaknesses of KGV are its low gun caliber and flat, easily penetrated deck armor. At range your effectiveness is limited and your vulnerability to citadels is increased significantly, so closing the distance not only maximizes the ships strengths but minimizes its weaknesses

British BBs like the Germans are built for mid to close range KGV having phenomenal HE just means it can trade effectively at range until is closes the gap to its superior medium range brawler area

Fun fact when the kgv was being developed there were treaty restrictions they could only mount 14” guns on her but half way thought there building the treaty restrictions were altered allowing countries to put bigger guns on there ships so people wanted to put 15” guns on the kgv class instead but it was determined that it would take up to a year to get the guns made and that would be a long time since they had another battleship so they went with the 14” guns they could easily produce, but fears that they would be under powered and after some test the British gov packed the ap shells with tnt which intern made the shells weigh more then the super heavy America ap for there 16” guns

By far my favorite bb so far king george one good salvo of HE deletes destroyers and melts bb at range and i have got citadel hits on light cruisers with those HE. GG spartan.

The HE can do 10k+ with just the bow guns Light a fire basically every salvo and has zero concerns about target type or angle of impact It's one of the few BBs were there is little reason to use AP Short of switching after lighting ²-3 fires or for broadside cruisers you could citadel and 1shot the HE just works better

Its pound for pound the best tier 6 BB Because of accuracy and great HE with short fuse AP its deadly to BBs and CAs at near max range And it has awesome belt armor with good rof and reasonable turret traverse No other tier 6 BB wants to 1v1 a KGV on here It can outrun or outgun all of its direct competitors with smaller more accurate more useable guns For reference I have all T6 BBs excluding France due to bad luck in early access That being said KGV and Vanguard were my first console T6&7

Totally agree it is my favorite ship in the game and the only battleship that I have never sold or will never sell for the simple reason that a battleship of the Iron duke class or similar belonged to my country (Chile🇨🇱) the battleship Latorre that yes Well, it is not the same type of ship in specific, they are almost the same aesthetically with very few statistical differences and literally only have one year difference in launch except that my country in an arms race those years ordered a larger caliber than the Iron duke class being Its biggest difference from its contemporary British counterpart also the fact that excites me the most is that the British commissioned it before handing it over to my country in WW1 at the Battle of Jutland as HMS Canada and after the war in 1920 in compensation for the loan the British made the good gesture of fully modernizing it to its current battleship standards by adding a larger bulgue air catapult and an improved AA. Originally the Latorre and the Cochrane were to be twins but Chile gave up and Instead, with the money, they decided to buy 3 destroyers and 3 submarines, which was a very smart decision from an economic point of view that it is very expensive even in those times to maintain a battleship and especially because it served in my country until well into the 50s where it was finally scrapped and its parts sold and still part of it survives in the last British pre-dreadnought the Mikasa of the Japanese navy and its propeller and main battery survive as a coastal battery in the Strait of Magellan and in the Beagle Channel unfortunately for our Argentine "friends" ... XD

I only use AP I find I can still pen any ship at my tier and above and do a large portion of their health in damage and I also use Cunningham with an inspiration of one of the Americans that gives more health that helps a lot going against a t7 battleship

The other thing that needs to be mentioned (if it wasn't in the video or comments section) is that British dispersion/accuracy is arguably the best which means more of those HE shells are going to land which is also great for DD's and CLs/CAs as you have 10 guns. I'm playing the US line of BBs and I find it infuriating how bad their vertical dispersion is with the New Mexico and Colorado.

In a match I fired my main guns at an Iowa trying to bow tank my kgv but I got 5 pens through his top deck shaving off a third of his health

Because the iowa is so long if you aim above front guns you can get pens through the Super Structure and down into the deck

Don't know why so many bemoan British battleships. I love 'em. The Queen is my go to girl. Wasn't thrilled about KGV until I got it. Great ship! The HE is very good, but I mostly fire AP in my battleships.

Man, what is it with "The Strait" map? First time I played it I learned my lesson quickly. Never rush through the straits. Lately, it seems like this map hist creates a Mexcican standoff between both teams.. That is unless there are new players and decide to rush through the straits... haha

Honestly I performed great in the KGV 90k + dmg games were normal for me but I can barely get a good game in the Vanguard it honestly makes me regret the line. Now I havent played it since it got the buffs but I prefer it over the Vanguard.

The KGV should be tier 8. Those guns were superior in every way to the 15' guns on the Queen Elizabeths. At the Battle of the Denmark Strait The Prince of Wales was able to get a citadel on the Bismarck
