The LCS program is plagued by poor design, poor planning and oversight! Why is a contractor allowed to build a ship, using dissimilar metals and NOT employing standard techniques and procedures to prevent the inevitable galvanic corrosion? Why was this issue not corrected, before we had these defective ships built? Why did we continue to build defective ships, after the defects were discovered? Who is responsible for this gross negligence and why are they not being prosecuted?

These ships had issues and even when they were made evident they bought more of them. They should of just stuck with the Aegis class destroyers which are cheaper, can do almost anything, and have the draft to go in shallow water which is all over the Persian Gulf. Low draft is extremely important for combat ships that need to operate close to land or shallow waters.

It really depends on if they are expecting war to come to our shores or not. If they are then lcs ships would be very handy. The independence variant has already been scrapped due to the hull cracking under every day use due to the aluminum hull.

LCS ships can still be repurposed. Independence class LCS can be drone carriers due to their huge flight deck while Freedom class can be fitted with Adaptable Deck Launchers ADL giving it more punch.

I know from firing a round in to the water that as soon as it hits the water the round developed a bubble of air at the tip under water. To decrease drag of the water could it be possible to push air out the front of the sub to achieve higher speed under water?

Wow...it's a bit crazy they retired them so early consider the USS Blue Ridge has been in service since 1969! And is still active! There had to be classified information that's above our paygrade. The US Navy does not mess around. No doubt they "discovered" weakness that cannot be fixed other than a decommission.
