I have lived in Mexico for many years (in the campo, not the gringo resort aspects) and it warms my heart to see this story. I imagine there are some sketchy moments with dogs encountered on the way.

Looks like a lot of Aussie heeler dogs in Mexico. You could see Capi's herding instincts come out with those cattle.

Capi showed the cattle who was boss. Don't mess with me! I mean business. Get out of the way so my friends and I can continue. Sometimes cattle will attack humans. But the dog can challenge them. It's really amazing if you think about it.

The singletrack trailer worked best for us, almost all our gear fit in it and my dog could easily ride on top. Later we took up hiking with Marty, the donkey. they became best buddies and we hiked the PCT, most of texas, Arizona and Utah. RIP Pal

I love the box! My dog and I did a 2 month bikepacking trip last year and she trotted all the way so we were limited to 20 km per day. I don't know if I could ever train her to ride on the bike now. But it's so much fun to ride with a dog I'd never trade it for anything!

I’m bike traveling with my 2 Jack Russel terriers. for their convenience, I made a special bicycle trailer of my own design, although they like to ride standing on a frame, using the handle bar. They like to look forward and keep an eye on the road. We’ve already been around the Caucasus and Crimea.

Many years ago I was cycling cross Canada. I met a guy with a large dog and the dog would ride on a trailer except when going up steep hills. He would have to walk or trot then. This was back in '74'.
