Irvin was one of the most important pieces to that offense and if he were 2nd string with subpar stats, he would have been let go immediately no matter the race. Troy Aikman could have gotten away with it because he was another player that helped them win. Since Irvin helped the Cowboys achieve a lot of success, Jerry Jones had to save his ass to keep the offense going strong. If that incident happened in today's league, he would have been let go because the outcry of cancel culture would be too much for the Cowboys to handle. He got a LOT wrong about this feud 😂 In fact, he got more wrong than he got right. 1.) Yes, the “shut tf up” story IS what started the feud. But it definitely wasn’t caused by T.O. not getting enough targets… It was about a single play that was installed specifically for T.O. against a certain look. The play worked perfectly and he was WIDE open but McNabb checked it down for some whatever reason. So I’m the huddle, TO was communicating w/ 5 letting him know that the play went as planned. He wasn’t angry, upset, or demonstrative in any way. AND it was actually other guys in that huddle who asked him why he didn’t throw the ball like he did all week. But 5 chose to lash out at TO instead of the guys who actually DID show frustration.
@blacksuburban2410 Жыл бұрын
@@donnelladams8362next: 2.) He said that the quote regarding McNabb throwing up in the Super Bowl came from Owens AND that Owens volunteered the quote. Not true. It was actually a quote from an Eagles O lineman Hank Fraley who said it to media in Florida right after the game. So a few months later, TO (like the other players) had a press conference about the upcoming season. But naturally, the media was focused on the contract situation and the speculations about friction with McNabb. AND, TO didn’t ever bring up the Super Bowl vomiting situation… A reporter who knew about the Fraley quote asked TO about the quote. And even worse, TO actually said that he didn’t personally see it and didn’t know whether or not really happened. 3.) Same thing with the Favre comment. T.O. wasn’t the source of the comment AND he didn’t bring it up in the interview. The quote about Favre and McNabb came from Michael Irvin during a broadcast discussion about the Eagles record. And during TO’s interview, Graham Bensinger (the host) TOLD T.O. what Michael Irvin said about Favre and how the Eagles record would be better with Favre. Then Graham asked TO if he agreed with Irvin… to which TO said he agreed. BUT the sports outlets only played the part where TO said he agreed then stopped without showing his explanation… in which he said that McNabb was dealing with injuries all season. And if McNabb wasn’t hurt, everyone would’ve been watching the Eagles do what they did the prior year.

I heard they still don’t like each other, so McNabb will never ever be friends with T.O. ever. I hope one day they will make peace and forgive each other. Ben Roethilsberger and Antonio Brown were teammates with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Brown had his best career with 136 receptions for 1,834 receiving yards in 2015 and 129 receptions for 1,698 receiving yards in 2014. Ben Roethilsberger spent his entire 18 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers and they retired his number. Although, their problems started when Antonio Brown became too much of a distraction for the team and it gotten worse after he was traded to formerly known as the Oakland Raiders before being released. Also, he signed with the New England Patriots to play for Tom Brady and only played a game before Coach Belichick released him in 2019. After that, he reunited with Tom Brady with Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he spent the final two seasons there. Antonio Brown returned home to Florida to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and where is he at now a free agent for now.

So what? Rams Jack Youngblood played part of the 1980 season, play offs and Super Bowl with a broken leg. It's been done before. Oh, and Jack also played in the zpro Bowl the week following the Super Bowl.

Hate is too strong a word, but tensions between Joe Montana and Steve Young eventually resulted in the former leaving the team. The late Bill Walsh had brought in Young from the Bucs, both as a backup plan (Walsh clearly was impressed with what he saw in Steve Young), while at the same time, he was hoping to light a drive in Montana to be better. It worked, but it worked too well. Both of them were pitted against each other from the get go, and Walsh worked actively to foster the rivalry by alternating between both of them. Despite them winning back to back Super Bowls, the Montana vs Young would divide the locker room and front office until Montana was traded to the Chiefs, finally ending the divide once and for all. While neither Montana nor Young have publicly bashed the other, years of tension between them, alongside their differing personality types, practically killed off any chances of them ever being "friends".

I have to admit but Montana proved himself, coach walsh, and the doctor who told him to retire in 1986, and everyone that he could still play in the NFL which started an incredible run by Montana and the 49ers a whopping 18 consecutive ROAD wins in a row including playoffs. A record that hasn't been broken since. As a person Montana is more of a likeable person than Young who is a man who doesn't say much on the spotlight. The 49ers from the 80's played better on the road than at home.

There's a lot more to the Incognito story. He showed text from Martin where Martin was telling him it ain't him pushing the issue but Jim Rome who was doing the interview ignored it. Martin then the next year was traded to SF then retired when he was traded again to the Panthers.

As a die hard eagles fan we could’ve had a ring or 2 if TO and Mcnabb put their differences aside if it wasn’t for TO sb performance that game would’ve been a blowout since mcnabb shit the bed in the last 3 nfc championship games before eagles traded for TO 💯💯

No limit McNabb threw three touchdowns in that game, no way he shit the bed. Maybe you should ask your defense why they allowed Brady to score three touchdowns in that game. Or does McNabb play defense too? The defense shit the bed allowing 24 points. I live in philadelphia and I saw that game.T.O put up 9 receptions for 150 yards. But McNabb threw for over 300 plus yards in that game and none of those 3 touchdowns were to Owens.
@tonydejesus21342 жыл бұрын
@@donnelladams8362 24 points isn’t that much - look it up, it’s only 2.5 points above the league average for that year, the defense was fine. TO was great in that game; sometimes others score because the D is double-teaming the superstar, so he earned his money that way (trust me, I’m no huge fan of TO off the field, but he was a great player). McNabb completely let his team down in the end with terrible clock management due to his poor fitness.

As a Dolphins fan I don't think you got the whole story on the Martin/Incognito scandal. Martin was deemed as too boyish and soft by the coaching staff. So they told Richie to help toughen him up a bit. At first I think Martin understood why Richie was assigned as a mentor to toughen him up and went along with it. But I think Richie and the others didn't know when to let up. Plus Martin wasn't a very good player as well as having to deal with the hazing. So he broke. Honestly he should've just stood up for himself and fought one of them. Snitching and suing was a punk move. As well Richie should've just eased up on the guy once he realized Martin wasn't dealing well with the hazing.
@abramwalker8822 жыл бұрын
You're a child if you think Martin was in the wrong dude. Hazing where you're actually physically or emotionally hurting someone is fucked up. That's not love, nor is it even "tough love". You're sitting here advocating violence as a response for bullying. Jesus christ dude I hope you never have children. Sounds like you'd be right next to their bully telling them to toughen up.
@marksieber462610 ай бұрын
Blame it on Dolphins management. They drafted this big dude who just wasn’t ready. Certainly took a forceful approach at shoving him into a situation he wasn’t prepared for. Obviously a bit more due diligence before the draft would’ve paid off. Owners, management, coaches, and players all to Blame.
