Meet The NEW Stormgate Vector Unit

In today's stormgate casted game we see the stormgate vanguard faction versus the stormgate celestial armada battle it out on secluded grove. It was a great game that showcased some of the important units and abilities for both of these stormgate factions.

Cool cast, I wonder what other viewers think about single colored hp bars. Imo hp bars which go from green to red make micro more readable.

I heard someone complaining for a different reason: They would rather know which units are *damaged*, so they proposed healthbars that grow brighter as the unit gets more damaged. Personally, I'd prefer no healthbars at all. I'd rather see the unit look more damaged at 99% health, 66% health, 33% health, respectively. Both options would be good, in my opinion.

Not sure which counterplay the celestial could have gone with. Even with all the early pressure it feels like there just wasn't a cost effective answer. The vulkans deal enough dps on their win but in combinationw ith atlasses it's just brutal.

Animancers with their black hole ability and their healing would probably have been the best shot. Scythes also would have helped vs the Vulcans and tanks, but their micro was super weird and I don’t know if their abilities were functioning properly during frigate.

He should've teched to air units IMO. Vulcans and atlases can't target air.

IMO this wasn’t really celestial late game without animancers or sabers. (No disrespect to DON~ILYA. Prob the best non-Parting Celestial.) Scythes (air units) might have been worked, but would’ve been risky since all it takes is like 2 hedgehogs to shut that down since the hedgehogs have such a long AA range and so much hp. Also seems like Don was struggling for therium in this particular game since he only had like 5 cabals at the end.

​@@GameFriend10 we discussed this game with Alex right after it happened. He asked: "do Celestials ever win? This was a perfect start". The biggest issue here was a fight at 10:20, the game should've been won right there. You can notice that cabals didn't apply their cripple ability to vulcans. Because of the focus fire probably, I should've a-clicked instead. And in later engagements they didn't have enough range to reach their targets because of my own argents. Scythe switch would work well, yeah. But it should've been done instead of cabals. At this point felt too late to switch, but I also wanted to test this late game comp. Sabers - don't believe in them. I think tankivacs with good micro should win. Once there's 5-6 atlases it also becomes hard. Animancers - not bad, but you lose tempo and let vg get into even later game, where they have too much power. So I think this proactive cabal play is really interesting, but requires almost perfect execution and micro: timely debuffs, focus fire, vector micro.

I only mentioned sabers/animancers as a reply to the first comment bc I feel those are more late game and idt we’ve actually seen them on FarmMan’s channel yet.

@@GameFriend10 sure thing. I just used your comment as an opportunity to share some interesting details ^^ Here's some more: This therium-less style is intentional. It was a part of the "what if?" approach, which could flop miserably, but looked quite promising. There were a lot of moments where with better micro or fights things could go differently. The only thing I'd disagree with is the part about "2 hedgehogs". Scythes trade into hogs reasonably well and have some really cool interactions. First of all, their invincibility shields soak a lot of dmg, especially the initial burst from hogs. Secondly, if you research the upgrade for scythes (that temporarily gives +2 extra damage every time they get hit when the shield is active) you can turn that burst damage against them, because it triggers the +2 boost several times. It's not gonna work against mass hogs, but if there's not enough of them it can end a game on the spot.
