I remember where I was when I heard the news about Ricky Berry. He was so good, the comparison by Kenny Smith that he was Reggie Miller with handles and by Marc spears that he was Peja before Peja is pretty accurate. I'm 51 and just became a kings fan when the Kings moved from KC. Berry was such a phenomenal player, quiet and efficient. He was a solid rebounder too and an efficient shooter. The Kings never recovered from that draft loss until the late 90s... It was such a sad story.

People become depressed for a multitude of things and most times don't even have the proper help (fam/friends) or therapist to speak to. And since men are just expected to be strong and figure things out on there own, suicide rates have spikes over the recent years. Oh and getting on my knees and praying to a fake deity isn't going to make issues any better, especially if nobody cares about you. You just have to take matters into your own hands.

He played little early in the season, but came on strong near the end, averaging 18 points a game over the last six weeks, and hitting 40.6% of his 3 point field goals on the season, 7th in the league. Furthermore, his 11 point average came in 22 minutes a game; that's 24 points per 48 minutes, which is good for anyone, especially a rookie. Had he lived, he likely would've been one of the NBA's top 20 scorers of the 90s.

Yes, I was heavily into the NBA back then, and that was a great draft year. I'm from southern Indiana and many people in my family attended Purdue. We were expecting them to win the national championship that season, but they were upset in the round of 16 by Kansas State. It was very painful at the time, but far less so in retrospect, as KSU had Mitch Richmond, and nobody realized how good he was. Similarly, I was a big fan of University of Louisville football, and their only loss in 1990 was to Southern Mississippi, and that loss later didn't feel as bad, because USM had Brett Favre! One other example, there were a lot of University of Kentucky football fans in my area, and almost all of them picked UK to win the 2003 national championship, but they were upset in the round of eight by Marquette, a loss that's not a lot more excusable because MU had Dwayne Wade!

I’m almost completely certain that whatever argument that took place between himself and his wife before he ended himself, was not the sole reason he did it. Seems highly more likely that he probably was dealing with these thoughts for sometime, for whatever the reason or reasons were. Maybe he battled extreme depression in secret and didn’t know how to reach out and ask for help. Everything just most likely came to a head that particular night.
