Finally, something that looks like its all road and all weather. It's great that you are using a standard size and more widely available tire. You have set the new standard.

I really like how Tern has approached this differently, as they usually do. In terms of choosing a rigid design with those big volume tyres. The 29er version with the Rohloff to me would be the choice for most people who probably won’t be taking it off-road much; and who want maximum quality and ease of maintenance. But the fat tyre version looks very fun. And the towbar is such a cool idea. I’m surprised no one’s done that before. Not surprised Tern would be the ones to finally do it though.

Surly Big-Easy is very much the same. Just less range and no fat tires. But I don't think they sell it outside america.
@matsnaps8 ай бұрын
@@K1989Lvery different bike. The build quality is nowhere near terns. The big easy thing has a performance line Bosch motor and doesn’t offer a belt option. Not to mention the accessories available for tern and the back up from stores. The tern is also the new smart system. It’s blows the big easy out the water.

YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! FINALLY!!! Somebody actually built the bike I've been wanting for a very long time. So much so that I contemplated building one myself. A full size beefy long tail cargo e-bike that can do it all. I don't want non of them cargo bikes with teeny tiny wheels, no! Not in the front or back, give me my full size 29 or 27.5 inches all the way. I don't care about a low step thru, I'm fit and able I can throw my leg miles over frame to mount bike. Make it long and beefy I could care less bout weight or length, I want to be able to carry anything not just kids. I find the heaviness of the bike to be a good thing, works in favor of bike making it harder for thieves to carry it off when parked in your garage, at coffee shop or grocery store. I've never owned or ridden an ebike but I've been looking pretty hard and for quite some time. My kind of bike just didn't exist until now. This may just be it. It's not cheap either so it may still be out of my reach but I like that it exists. With this, the ebike has gotten much closer to an actual viable car replacement. Thank you Tern.

low step through is the only way. why make it more difficult to use a bike? why make a bike only for a select few?
@Mrdezmiki8 ай бұрын
@@difflocktwo sometimes low step through does not fit the purpose, especially for a heavy duty bike like this. If you've ever ridden a low step through bike with a heavy load on the back end, you may have noticed how wobbly it gets with every turn or wiggle. For a more rigid frame you will have to add more support thus higher step through.
@difflocktwo8 ай бұрын
@@Mrdezmiki You can make a very low step through very torsionally stiff. It doesn't need to be high step through.

After riding with front fork suspension for so long cant imagine going back to without, is it not necessary with the geometry or something?
@ternbicycles7 ай бұрын
Hi @CubeRhinoDev, good question! There are a few good reasons here, but it's mainly to do with high weight capacity and handling/geometry. 1. 210 KG MGVW - There is no suspension fork rated to handle such a high weight rating. 2. 130 KG rider weight - To our knowledge, no offroad suspension fork is rated to handle a rider of this weight. In designing the Orox it was important for us to make this bike accessible to larger and heavier riders. 3. The Atlas fork fits the Trail Rack that can be loaded with 25kg of additional cargo. A suspension fork can't be fitted to carry any additional cargo. 4. Standover height - A suspension fork raises the standover height of the top tube by by 70-100mm. In designing the Orox it was a priority for us to make this bike accessible to shorter riders. 5. We believe that the 4" tires provide sufficient suspension for the intended riding conditions of the Orox.

Why does the Orox Rohloff model come with the manual shifter? That would be the first I would change to the E-14. The Orox could actually be my 4th bike with Bosch and Rohloff E-14 😂 I just need more space 😂
@ternbicycles7 ай бұрын
Good question on the , essentially the Orox is designed to function reliably in very inhospitable conditions and simple cable shifting is easier to repair in the field.
@Bunny-Power7 ай бұрын
@@ternbicycles The electronic shifting on the Rohloff is as reliable as the Bosch system. And way less likely to fail than the manual cable shifter. So that does not make sense.
