Meet the smallest lorry driver in the world - a 4ft 9in woman who loves being “high up” in her massive truck.
Hayley Hume, 40, was terrified of lorries after colliding with one while driving in 2008 and would get clammy hands when she passed one.
Her cousin, Kyle, 27, a lorry driver, took her out in his massive vehicle to help her face her fear.

Back bone of the country. I salute you all. Being brought up around the industry with my Grandad, dad, uncle, my brother drives class 1, I’m a meagre van driver haha but I do long distance from Preston. Sometimes doing more miles than my brother haha, but I’m not tachoed. I can’t drive C1 because of health reasons but I’ve been brought up to give you lads n lassies the utmost respect. I fully understand how much room you need etc. you have the biggest respect from me. All of you.

I don’t understand? Employed because of their looks? It cost thousands to train to be a lorry driver, it’s not glamorous, it’s a well skilled job that we have to train to do for ages sometimes even years, we have to continue our Taining year after year, we have to have medicals and loads of other stuff it’s contact with usblorry drivers, it’s not as easy to get into as some think. We never stop learning. The higway codes are always being updated we have to follow all that and keep track of everything it’s not just like passing a car or bike test. I think everyone should be made to go in a lorry to actually see what it’s like and experience the idiots we come across everyday. The safety of lorry’s isn’t in the public eye enough.

I always courage more female to the career path of driving trucks, but in this case I can't really understand it. I firmly believe a truck driver needs a physical test to prove ability to move heavy loads and not be a safety hazard. Even a simple task like tying down cargo needs hand power to be cranked or it will not be properly secured in place. Once a small-sized woman tried to haul a pallet that weighed about a ton and she couldn't pull it up a small ascent causing it to roll back and I had to go and stop it while hurting my legs in the process.
