I turned over a squirrel (ancient term for state hospital patient) who had a melt down while out in public. At a McDonalds in a city far from my home. Handed her over to EMS, she got away, I wound up grabbing her again before she hurt anyone. The responding Officer saw that as he came in. Thought I was staff. “I’m a rancher”

That would have been just as dangerous as what he did, but much less effective. The ambulance was rear wheel drive, so the thief could have easily turned it into a tug-o-war with the front wheels hooked. Flattening a tire and puncturing the radiator was definitely a better way to reduce the speed and range of the ambulance.

It's always sneaky BS like visiting an apartment complex with parking permits... go knock on the door with hazard lights on by time you come back your car is gone. Though they dont suggest it cause they dont want people getting hurt or doing something that could put others in danger, the only trouble hell likely get is with his insurance on his claim! Insurances wont cover it because then it would make others consider doing the same if they see a police chase etc. Then someone innocent will get killed one day and theyll make a huge deal out of it n sue the insurance for millions n millions. Doing that is putting your health and risk and the perpetrator could even come after your insurance for it since youd be at fault for purposely hitting them in a attempt to stop the chase. So though its morally correct its not a good idea 99% of the time

No reason to make the ambulance go faster and potentially cause a really bad crash. if someone wants to run away at 15 mph, they will chase at 15mph. Its just safer. because if they speed up, so will the suspect.

I wanna get this straight, so the "original victim" was assaulted and when being treated for said injuries from a violent assault, he jumps up out of his mind from said injuries, and tries to steal a ambulance, now making him the perp, before he gets fully into the ambulance's drivers door hes shot 3x by police, then tries to save his life by escaping, driving through town.....idk..how bad was this guys initial head injury?...and then id want to know how bad "these 2 officers that got ran over" injuries were to warrant shooting a unarmed man in a medical crisis..but TY for stepping in......you literally saved that victims life by helping stop him from getting killed by police!

@@tomharly8026 There are procedures in place, on the one hand you have a Police force all trained in pursuits and are constantly calling into dispatch so the pursuit can be called off at any moment it is deemed too dangerous, and on the other hand, you have some tow truck driver coming into the pursuit (also driving dangerously) with I presume, no communications with the Police, not exactly ideal.

What he did was both good and dumb. Good because he risked his truck and his safety to stop the guy, and dumb because, well, there's a reason why police take their time during a chase. They wait to make a move when they know it's safe. What he did was dumb because as you can see in the video when he tried to block the ambulance the driver almost went to the other side of the road where there are plenty of oncoming cars that could have been fatally hit. That's why police don't always choose to block suspects during a chase because they are unpredictable and might only do more harm than good.
