I love robotic arms and great product (it's such an idealistic looking tool to have especially for a small business owner like myself) but, I want to see this thing operational in a real life simulation with 7 axis. What can this puppy actually do in a production scenario. What are the applications available. I want to see how it is programmed to removed 3D printed parts out of a machine in the middle of the night while everyone is out of the studio for example. Besides the obvious pick and place of pc board parts, you'd need a conveyor part system added. To show a 10k robotic arm lift a coffee cup is like showing a cyclist sitting on a 10k carbon frame what it only could be like?

@Kepe6 жыл бұрын
Software seems super clunky if you need to program individual joint movements. It would be a lot better if you could just move the arm to a position (by physically moving the arm and moving it using software for more precision) and then say "start from this position" and then move it to another position and say "move to this position" and then the software does the actual programming of the required joint movements automatically to make that happen. Of course it needs to allow for more than just two positions, but you get what I mean. The arm itself looks like it is capable of doing a lot of light stuff, it's the software that seems to be lacking.
@TheEtbetween6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, definitely agree software seems Amateurs.
@MR-um5wj5 жыл бұрын
Best comment ever, not pejorative as most of them. Totally agree with you that the soft should automatically define all the joints movements from a point A to a point B. And I can add that we could give a constraint like "keep the end tool (here the gripper) horizontal or in his original point A plan" during the movement. Doing this only to points availlable should definitly make this arm more useful and professionnal style. As already said in comments software is the key, and to make this arm easy use with all thoses joints makes it probably more difficult.

This guy did a terrible job selling his toy.Just from the title we know it's a 7-axis arm. That's an interesting thing. But nothing he showed made use of that. His "motion demo" moved one, maybe two axis (axes? axies? axises?) at a time. the arm moved. Cool, it's a robot, that's expected. Then they picked up a cup. Ok...should I be impressed? It wasn't even smooth or precise or move it in any interesting way. It just grabbed it. Big deal. I can't see a single use for it, and honestly think it's less useful than I would have just seeing a picture and the words "7-access arm"...

Limited to 250mm/s max, for sure, possibly less in this case. Any little bot that wants to be used collaboratively will have that limit and a low payload, or other safety devices are required. Little industrial robots are seriously fun to watch at full speed. Love the sounds they make, too.

Looks like they got the basics down. Japanese engineered harmonic drives are great step in the right direction. But one of the reasons industrial companies trust the robots built by Fanuc or Kuka or Kawasaki, etc, is because of the after-market support. Do you think this start-up company will be here in 5, 10, 20 years to support their robot and protect your investment? Not only with software updates, but also spare parts, repair services, on-site support, etc? I'd be wary of buying any start-up robots over $3k~$5k. If it were open source, that would be a different story, since you then would have top-to-bottom control over spare parts, firmware updates etc. With those after-market caveats aside though, the robotic arm industry is ripe for disruption. The price of a GOOD robotic arm is quite expensive. For even a small one with a 0.5kg to 2kg load, you could spend $30k or more easily. Those prices won't hold for much longer with china getting into the game.
