Amazed to see this in Beecheood brown and with a Polynesian Biege top. I bought one identical in 1981 from the original owner in Winnipeg and took it to Vancouver. One of only 13 Tudor models built. The rarest postwar Canadian made car. Many fond memories of it. Sold it on ebay in the 90's and wish I had kept it.

The space between the body and the roof looks larger than the American 1960 wagons. What a piece of history you have there.

... Love the 1960 body style ... Tan is a great color ... ... I'm in California, and of all things, I own two Canadian built cars ! ... A 1965 Studebaker Cruiser, and a 1953 Dodge Regent ... Both are four door cars ... Both have front & rear operating wing vents ... And both are well loved, appreciated and admired ... Oh, and both are daily drivers ... Best regards ...

Hi I'm the guy whose friend owned this car in Vancouver at least untill the early 1990s when I last saw it I last rode in it when we went to the 1986 Vancouver World's Fair. Glad to see it survived I owned a 1955 Meteor Niagara from 1984 until last year.

My first car, when I was 15 in '74, was a 60 Starliner. Of course I wish I still had it. This Meteor is probably rarer than a '60 Edsel, and a 2 door wagon too! The engine and transmission are really nice additions. You've done a great job.
@IfThisCarCouldTalk4 ай бұрын
Very cool comment and thanks for watching! Actually the '60 Edsel is rarer and wish we had one of each!

@@IfThisCarCouldTalk Do you know if any Edsels were sold new in Canada? You are right about the 1960 Edsels in terms of numbers built - by a lot, but I wonder if more of the '60 Edsels were saved than the '60 Meteors? Cars of this era rusted bady. I've see 4 or 5 1960 Edsels in person, but only one '60 Meteor. I'm not Canadian. Maybe the 1960 Meteors were popular and were preserved.
@VEGTheAgingHippie4 ай бұрын
Amazing that there was anything left of it after northern Ont. winters. I'm Canadian so I know how many cars from Canada from that era have long since turned into a pile of rust. Incredibly rare car and so nice to know that a least one of these survived. You always have the most interesting cars on this channel. Thanks.

Fun Fact: The 60 full-sized Ford cars, same sheet metal as a Meteor, was one year body because it was too wide. The car, at 81½ inches, were actually wider than normal limits, and technically should have been sold with orange “clearance” lights on the roof. LOL

Bull!

Not sure about the clearance lights lol, but yes, 1960 was the widest Ford ever built

I saw this car in Vancouver when I moved there in the early 90s. I remember remarking to my friend "Look at that massive station wagon!". Whatever made it move from North Bay to Vancouver is the only reason it survived.

It appears the 1960 model of the Meteor was a fairly subdued modification of the 1960 Ford . My recollection is that in some other years the Meteor styling was a bit more flamboyant. Thanks for sharing this.

We love the Mercury truck too!!
@lancasterritzyescargotdine26024 ай бұрын
Mercury trucks were produced from 1946 thru 1968. Sadly, none were offered in crew cab formation. There had been a huge collection of Mercury trucks in the southwest California desert collected by a snowbird who drove one down from Canada each year. Unfortunately, back in the late 1990s some cigarette jerk came along and accidentally set fire to his place and all were destroyed. I cried for days...

Great car, I've only seen one US '60 Ford 2 door wagon, and several Falcons. I am in Mesa, have a '60 Comet 2 door wagon, also an original six/3 speed, also a V8 conversion with a 302 and C4. Its not Canadian, but it's rare enough that a few have asked me if it is.
