Skyler singing Happy Birthday is a recreation of Marylin Monroe singing to JFK on his birthday. And Jane introduced Jesse to Heroin - a much stronger and addictive drug. It's the worst.

Every kind of opiate is more addictive than crystal. Any opiate painkiller from fentanyl to morphine, oxy, roxys, percocet, norco all originate from the poppy plant. Same high, and same withdrawal as heroin. They just found a way to put it and pill form for a fat profit. But a lot turn to black (heroin) becuz it's so much cheaper. But the withdrawal from any opiate makes crystal look like a walk in the park... literally. Crystal is a lot mental. Opiates is mental & physical. The restlessness is the worst!!! U want to jump out of ur own skin

I dont think Jesse is at fault for Jane backsliding back to doing drugs. She made that choice completely on her own. He told her pretty firmly to leave and she decided not to.

Is it possible that he was already high out of his mind when she came into the room? I have been thinking about why he wouln't stop her there and that's the only reason that came to my mind that would make sense to me. That he wasn't able to grasp the situation because he was too high to understand fast enough what was even happening.

She made her own choice. She’s been in recovery for 18 months. She knows exactly what this will lead to. But she also feels bad for him so she doesn’t want to leave. But when she came back with heroine, that was on her. 💯.

I don't think either of them are completely at fault. To a certain degree they both are at fault, but addiction is very tough. They are constantly together, a mate of Jessie just died. It is very easy to just say, "one can can't hurt" before completely slipping. The whole situation just sucks.

The door slamming at the end reminds me of Malcom in the Middle. Heroin addicts say they're always trying to chase- replicate that first high that's why they put so much emphasis on Jesse after his first high. He really got lifted out of that room on a board too.

very divisive episode but its so good. on one hand, jesse is a horrible person and a drug dealer scumbag. on the other jane knew he was a drug dealer, chose to associate with him, and then didnt leave after being told multiple times by jesse and being reminded shes in the program. Jesse wasnt in a good place and was coping because he feels he got his friend killed, and hes basically an addict himself. and i love Giancarlo Esposito is such a fucking good actor. i watch almost anything he is in now.

"on the other jane knew he was a drug dealer, chose to associate with him," Exactly Jane is not as sweet and innocent as people seem to think, she knew exactly what was going to happen "paid cash, fake name". Shooting someone up for the first time is even looked down upon by other users, watching how cold she was to Jesse after that awkward interaction on the step also hit different this time. Yes Jesse probably shouldn't have done that, but Jane was ice cold. I am not excusing Jesses behaviour or claiming his innocent in all of this either.

17:59 Is the best reaction from Eric this episode. I wonder what part of it appealed to Eric. The ambition? The attempt at closing the sale? The drive Walt has to make it work? Also I have no idea where you two have the willpower to not watch another episode right after this one. I think I might have missed my first born's birth if I got the call right as that cliffhanger ending hit.

I cracked up at "The Spooges". I just imagined a Ben Stiller movie called "Meet the Spooges". Hell, I'd watch that. And yeah, meth is totally the One Ring*. To be fair, I do actually know some folks who use the word "precious" as slang for a certain similar compound with a hydrogen atom instead of a methyl group in some spot or other. *I now understand, in retrospect, what was happening during the period when my dad was using meth when I was a kid. Now that I'm an adult, he recognizes how awful it is, but admits that if you put it in front of him, he probably wouldn't be able to resist it.

Skyler's Marilyn moment is something nobody can abide! That said: this must have been the most hilarious reaction to that scene I've ever watched!!!! Usually I SKIP that scene, in every reaction! Instead of opting for a radical position, she has her ass between two chairs (it's a French expression, Google doesn't give me an equivalent, but you probably understand what it means. Is there an expression in English to say that?)

Wait. Because of Walt’s greed, they expanded into dangerous neighborhoods and Combo was killed. Jesse didn’t even go to Combo’s funeral because he was heartbroken and felt guilty. Jesse wanted to drown his misery and told Jane to leave. Jane felt the power balance shift so she came back with heroin and a needle (why does she still have that stash?) and took control and upped Jesse’s addiction game. All Walt’s fault.
