I love the channel but I feel like almost every single video involves death violence or illness. The most lighthearted story I found was the bounty hunter and even then it’s pretty intense. Just wish there was more of a split of light and dark stories but I respect the shit out of this guy and the work he does so he can really do whatever tf he wants. Just hard to watch so many dark ass videos

@@tharanlanier9614 of course , there’s no denying at all. Similar sentiment w/ the other occupations he interviewed - most peoples’ worst fuckups tend to land on front page/headlines. The majority of us are trying to make a living while simultaneously dedicating their livelihood to addressing the the elephant in the room which is homelessness in the U.S. it’s a day-to-day debate whether to keep going or to search for a different career due to energy drainage. Idk, I can always quit fosho but it’s trickled down responsibility. Politicians ain’t the ones out there , maybe 1-2x yearly as a publicity stunt but caseworkers confront constant stress. Only difference is we have to use our only weapon is our voice compared to cops.

I worked corrections for a level 4 max prison and honestly it was nice. Despite the media portrayal of prisons this prison was paid back with people who act like it's a society. But I've never heard of a "Floating" correctional officer because most facilities are short staffed. Tbh the inmates that were acting up were the young 18 to 21 year olds but they're smart. But never trustworthy so this guy is correct 💯

My dad got shot at so many times as an EMT. He was one of the few people that the ghettos full of black and Hispanic gang members respected, but occasionally a drugged up, or pissed off gang member would see the ambulance saving somebody that they thought they instantly killed in a drive-by and would obviously take pot shots at the ambulance to delay them. Usually that'd result in fire being returned by locals standing near the medics though. He genuinely had a case where a woman's 14 year old daughter got shot in the chest, collapsed her lung. Dad had to set up a tube for that I believe it was, get an IV started while loading her into the ambulance and just as that happens they hear a bunch of pops and the sound of concrete busting, then grass and dirt being displaced. Someone from across the street shot from their backyard into the street, towards the ambulance in an effort to hit one of the child's parents because they had apparently seen some gang activity that could've taken down that local gang. Wasn't Bloods or Crips. Was a tiny gang and like most tiny gangs, they're excessively violent because " Oh, gotta make a name. " - when you can make a name by being there for people considering originally Bloods and Crips formed to try to defend black neighborhoods and very quickly devolved into the same power hungry monsters as the Mexican militias that turned into cartels. I understand what this guy feels, though. I want to fight for the good of others, but Leukemia has kept me from joining the Marines. Obviously they have decently high standards for soldiers. For instance I can function somewhat without my depression medication, but I become furious and... that's a war crime waiting to happen when someone kills a squadmate, then surrenders, or survives and is disarmed - you can't kill them if they can no longer fight. I couldn't do that if they just blew my friend's organs out of his body, or exploded his brains out the back of his head. People call soldiers monsters without thinking of half the horrible shit they go through. Meanwhile, people today have a panic attack if they have to stay in their own damn homes for more than two weeks. It's pathetic. " Well, it's not happening to me so they should do better because I have impossibly high standards no human can achieve. " - if you want somebody to reach those standards, perform them first. Prove it's possible. If not, shut your mouth.

Goddamn we need way more like this golden boy in the system, I feel like jail would be a much better place and make a real difference for people if he was the standard. Edit: former inmate in Canada. Had more issues with guards then other inmates at times. I like how he addressed that there are some genuinely evil people. That was a wild realization for me years ago as everything I had ever done was self defence or purely motivated by money and usually against others "in the business" or their associates. Coming across what I would consider genuine evil was a hell of an experience.

I used to be a CO at a medium security correctional facility, and the experience I'll never forget is the inmate i found who OD'd. I did my best to keep him responsive and breathing, and I carried him down the stairs once medical got there with a stretcher and Narcan. What really stuck with me is that he was pissed at me for saving him, and it really sunk in how thankless the job is. In reasonably critical, "reasonably" is the operative word. No system is perfect. We need decent people working in prisons and as officers/military in general. Have a couple uncles that were in and out of prison. One of them credits a CO with really helping him get his shit together, says he saved his life, but at the time he was a dick and didn't realize it. You may also save inmates and never know it.

I have a interesting story about me and a police officer.. it all started when I was in high-school and one day I got very thirsty.. so instead of just going back in my school and using the bubbler.. I went to our football area went under the fence.. and the concession stand that sliding doors weren't locked and I just opened it.. I grabbed 2 bottles of water and a big of chips.. and I left shut the sliding door and went under the fence.. and sat down not to far away and ate and drank the water.. about 3mins later I saw a officer pulled up and I put 2 in 2 together pretty quickly.. and I just sat there.. and well at first gonna say back then I was stupid.. so I tried to lie my way out.. yeah he didn't buy it.. (which at the time I couldn't see it) so I actually got put in a police car.. and he called my parents they weren't happy obviously.. and I got the ticket and a court date.. well I did my community service and paid my parents back eventually for the ticket which was like 900$.. and looking back now.. I wish I could meet that officer today and just say thank you.. even though he was very harsh but could you blame him.. I was giving him BS stories.. and as time went by I just kept thinking of him and the words he said to turn myself into a better person.. and now even though currently still looking for a job but everything I did back then.. I stopped.. because stealing doesn't just hurt the company it also hurts the buyer (yes I stole from places like shopko only reason I'm saying this now is because they are gone so technically they can't do anything Also that was like 9 or 10 years ago..) but I now still am ashamed of that.. and wishing I could go back in time and prevent my self from doing it.. but knowing I cant.. I just try to put that behind me and move forward and to make myself a better person.. so as my first job was at goodwill.. people were friendly for the most part.. but one day I'm clearing certain items that were marked to be thrown out that day.. and I saw a person put something in her bag they got from a shelf... now yeah obviously told my manager but I didn't say the cops should be involved I mean it's goodwill... but stealing is stealing.. so infold I went up to her with said manager and told the person my story of stealing what I went through with my actions.. and in the end she put the item back (forgot what it was) and left.. and the manager just looked at me because I don't tell a lot of people this.. I just said to her. hey we all did stuff we regret and intern I may have just helped this person and commit the same stuff I did and changed her life around.. like I have.. now I ain't looking for sympathy... I know what I did was wrong.. the moral of this story is that 1 person I probably helped change her life around with my story (but I ain't certain of that) would I steal again though.. only if i was in a scenario of life or death yeah I would..

It's great to hear from someone who understands the nature of the beast the job can be. It's harder and harder to relate to someone who doesn't know that wet iron smell of blood smeared on polished concrete. Someone who hasn't felt that burnout from the rage and despair and knows no other way but forward. You aren't alone brother.

So when you get moved, the first thing they ask you if you are okay being transported with a male. You assess the male quickly. If they seem cool you say yes. If they don't seem cool you politely decline.

Trust me , the job usually doesn't kill you. It gives you a much greater chance of Divorce, Depression , PTSD , and It may shorten your overall lifespan .In my State you can retired from Law enforcement at 50. Save your money and take retirement as soon as you can .

Was a CO in-between being in the Corps and Army, was a terribly good time. Gotta admit the thanking other CO's hands in public and saying thank you is kinda cringe

he keeps having to remind himself that it doesn't matter because it actually does matter. nobody should have to constantly remind themselves that it doesn't matter if they die. prisoners want to act a certain way, they should be treated a certain way. let the prisoners inflict their own devices upon themselves in the privacy of their solitary cells.
