You have to blame him at least a bit. I understand that he doesn't want to get hurt again, but by acting coldly towards Mel, he's just making things more difficult for her and the Queen, which is *not* okay. It really is ironic that, in the next episode, Naofumi critcizes Ren and Itsuki for not considering the consequences of their actions, yet he does the same thing himself by jumping to conclusions about Mel. We saw clearly that Mel and Malty don't approve of each other, so someone as smart as Naofumi should have been able to put two and two together and realise that she's not like her sister and father. Instead, he lets his bitterness get the better of him and shoos Mel away before she's even had a chance to explain herself.

This series isn't for epic overextended colossus fights, so I considered dropping LN at this point. But you renewed my interest for a bit. I liked the psychological parts of the LN when it was a thing, so I hope seeing anything like that in next volumes.
