31:16 I agree with this to an extent, but also I always felt like Poof threw off the balance of Timmy/Cosmo/Wanda’s relationship. Like you touched on earlier, part of the show’s charm was how wholesome of “secondary parents” cosmo and wanda were to Timmy. When they got their own biological baby, to me it cheapened the bond they had with Timmy. He didn’t really feel like their pseudo son anymore because they had their own baby, he felt more just like a kid they were babysitting in a way.

It's interesting to note that the name Dimmsdale is still accurate throughout the show, but in the beginning it's because the town is so dull and harsh, but by the end it's because everyone's a moron, so they're all "dim".

12:12 I fell off Fairly OddParents a long time ago, but I know one of the major issues with the new seasons is when they just contradict their own lore. And yeah, it's a comedic show with loose continuity, but they were still building blocks for how the world is established to work. The one that comes in mind is the lore around fairy babies. They state the fairies are immortal, and because there's enough of them, they don't need to have babies anymore (they didn't even remember how, requiring Timmy to wish Cosmo and Wanda through some things). But as mentioned at (32:38), Timmy and Chloe share fairies due to a lack of staff... Which contradicts the argument against fairies having babies. It falls into the writing issue of "in a world where anything can happen, it's hard to care when something does", because the rules don't matter anymore.

25:14 School's out definitely did have a moral. The moral was to not see the world in black and white. Timmy and flappy both had very black and white views of the world: "Fun is fun and adults are evil for taking that away" and "Saftey and structure is most important and kids are evil for taking that away". Then throughout the musical, they realized that just because they didn't like something doesn't mean it's not important and that they shouldn't take away what others love just because they don't see the appeal. They still didn't 100% agree with each other, but they learned to at least see the other's prosective and respect it. I'm not sure if it was intentional, but the grayscale species being the villain when the moral is 'don't see the world in black and white' is genius lol

Chloe had potential for episodes about learning to share or cooperate instead of using magic for everything if the series had gone back to its classic season 1 structure. It might have even helped Timmy develop past his selfish persona but you know from her background alone that they weren't even trying.

Honestly they show The fairies not even trying to hide from Timmys Parents so much the show would probably be better if they just extended the length of the special and made it cannon. They could even think of another excuse to keep them. Either way, they see the fairys SO much like theres nothing wrong ik the writers both wanted to and should have had them be characters both could interact with. It would probably ruin the whole premise of the show but, they already disregarded so much and atleast that way it doesn’t come up as lazy, but rather them trying new things.

Honestly the rule about NO ONE seeing your fairies was a double edged sword. It provided stakes but heavily cut out possible character interactions within the show. An FOP ripoff, Pixel Pinkie, handled the secret wish granter trope a bit better by letting the best friend of the protagonist be in on the secret. Not even Disney's Cinderella, which likely inspired FOP, kept the godmother a secret from anyone but Cinderella. Cindy's animal friends knew about fairy godmother, and the sequels had Prince Charming learn about the godmother too.....

Both were comics that, despite the exec claims, could be for either group. I mean, I'm a girl and I read Big Nate as a kid.

It could also be that Phoebe and her Unicorn wasn't picked up because it was made by a trans comic artist. I'm not transphobic or anything but I wouldn't put it past Nickelodeon to deny her any chance of making a cartoon. Remember that The Legend of Korra's finale was only shown online and was never aired on TV, allegedly because it featured a lesbian kiss between Korra and Asami.

The handhold, not even a kiss, wasn't even planned until the end of Season 4's development. There wasn't even a kiss. It was just shot in a way that paralleled ATLA's end, while leaving it vague. 3. This was months before Garnet was revealed to be a fusion. [Also an add-on to my previous comment, regarding female protags, I'm glad we have Hazel Wells from the new FOP continuation. She's distinct from Timmy, a foil in a way, without feeling too much of a departure.]

You label Amphibia as the protaganist that is the "Happy Quirky Girl", but that is far from the case. Anne isn't just a happy girl that want's to bring positivity to everything, she's lazy, selfish, a bit of a jerk to others. This is due to her view of friendship being tainted by her toxic friend group, and the show actually shows and develops her view of things to be more nicer to others, but not to the point that you are saying. Owl House however, Luz is happy and positive almost the whole way through, which can get annoying. (BTW PLEASE WATCH AMPHIBIA)

I believe I know why Butch Hartman might have left Nickelodeon before. When it comes to the whole sharing fairies thing he might of had a good reason for leaving. If you could imagine Nickelodeon stealing ideas from the creators and throwing them under the bus that might have happened to Butch. While the channel had plans to buy the character once he had finished making her. Nick probably thought his ideas for her were really good so they messed with Chloe Carmichael. They wouldn't let him make ideas for Chloe once he gave them the rights to use the character. But now Nickelodeon might want to buy The Fairly Odd Parents from Hartman. I'm a fan and I understand that show more than anyone but buying the rights to FOP might become a challenge for me.
