I'm not in the industry or anything but I feel like an underrated skill in general is being able to tell "what's going to work" in comparison not just to "what's clearly bad" but also to "what's acceptable at a glance and would be inoffensive to just put out there." I get the vibe from this podcast and just knowing about some of the cartoons/episodes that he's worked on that F knows what the key ingredients to making something that will leave an impression on people are, and that doesn't have to involve becoming a soulless people pleaser.
