Of all of the builds you show... yours is, (personal preference), the best. I have an 07 extended E350 high top and am just now beginning my build. You've shown the possibilities... absolutely beautiful! I'd like to convert mine to 4wd as well, and although I'm presently in California, I'm going to be in touch with the company which did yours. I'll be looking to swap out bumpers as well and have a roof rack built to mount solar panels, awning and lighting. Thanks for sharing, for the inspiration!

@@KelticTim The 6.8 liter V-10 might be a bit much.We still have a few Econolines in our work van fleet with the 5.4 liter V-8 which averages about 12 mpg or a 4.6 liter V-8 that average 14 mpg. The 4WD gear probably loses about 2 mpg. The 4.10 rear gear is not very fuel friendly either. A lower 3.08 to 3.43 gear would help mpg, especially on the highway.

I periodically come back to watch the walk through tour of this van. I’m always blown away every time I’m finished watching this video. This van is completely tricked out to the max. Not only is the van lifted with a heavy duty shock and suspension system, huge off road tires, rhino lined siding, tons of exterior lighting but the interior is even more amazing. I love how comfortable and large the lounge/living room area is. As a professional chef and a home cook, I’m in love with that kick ass 3 burner stove top and full length oven. There’s even a hood fan with an exhaust port that leads outside which I’ve ever seen in any class B RV or Travel van. The van also has an impressively large refrigerator. Not only does the couch seats turn into a pretty large bed but there’s even a secondary bed above the cab. There’s an inclosed bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet which you almost never see inside Custom built camper vans. This van has tons of interior and exterior storage space for just about anything you’ll need or want while living in a vehicle. I freaking love this van! If I ever have enough money to build out my dream travel van, this is the van to use as the basis and inspiration.

I am interested in getting a used Ford Transit 250 cargo van with medium or high roof. My intent is to make it into a camper mainly for traveling and camping. The interior will be styled “old prospector cabin”. Rustic and simple but with some cabinets, windows, a fridge, indoor “outhouse” with shower area, a cook\prep\dining area, a wooden cot and a “locker” storage for pantry and clothes. The garage would be a locker style wood cargo box for storage, batteries, etc. Electrical panel for simple plug-in and USB solar power.

I already watched your other walkthrough video, but this van is so amazing that I couldn't help but sit through it all over again. Very cool rig! Would you mind commenting on build costs? I'll have some money coming in later in the year and I've been strongly considering getting a class-B adventure rv/van, but I'm not sure if it's better to get an older cheaper van and just upgrade it, or go with a newer (after ~2007) one and not having as much to work on potentially. Currently have my eye on vans built on the chevy express chassis (i.e. roadtreks and pleasure ways), but man those are expensive. I'm still rather new to this topic and am just watching lots of videos of van owners and reading through forums on good brands/models/years and their pros and cons. Any advice for a newcomer would be appreciated! Love your videos.

If I'm not mistaking, you used to work or still work at a RV dealership...I recognize the voice. Overall this is a beautiful rig you decided to build, specially the drive train. This build must have been expensive 👍👍👍

Thank you Sammy. I love my Airstreams

Airstream quality in a clean older rig with great upgrades that I hadn’t thought of. Nice rig and probably a fraction of the cost of a new Interstate or Sportsmobile Classic even after the updates and 4x4. Wish I had thought of that!

sir you have built an amazingly capable, do anything an . Occasional local quick camping trips, to easily long term see the entire country in comfort and simplicy at the same time. You are quite the visionary. Question---- not judging your choice, when you started this was there a reason you did not want the 7.3 Powerstroke Diesel , back then the diesels were still very basic. I have moved out of diesel now and drive a very thirty Toyota Tundra, but that decision was made with full knowledge of Toyotas 5.7 V8 and its thirst, the 5.7Yota reliability is no secret. I can see where you may have had reasons for gas or diesel, just wondering when knowing what you planned to do, what was deciding factor in favor of a gasoline power plant. Appreciate if you could say what swayed you to gasoline. That van should be an award winner, simply awesome.👍👍

Can you give a breakdown list and costs of all the work done (Airstream 190 top, suspension, 4x4 conversion, etc.)? Thanks.
@NewJerseyOutdoorAdventures4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. That is a long list. 20k for van, 22k UJoint 4x4, and the rest somehow added up to 80k

Back in 1979 I took a Dodge van and did the same thing I cut my roof off and went to some company in Pennsylvania that put on a fiberglass cap for pretty reasonable I think it was about 800 bucks and from there I proceeded to build a custom camper that I used for many winter to tour the Rockies while skiing I really miss that vehicle I should have kept the cap when I scrapped it

Well I'm wondering what is the advantage of switching out and absorption refrigerator for a compressor style refrigerator only because if you don't have enough power it's nice to have a three-way absorption that'll do everything a compressor does but allows you to use 12 volt propane or 110
@NewJerseyOutdoorAdventures2 жыл бұрын
The 12v refrigerator is so much more efficient and safe too. Most people don’t realize an absorption refrigerator not only burns LP, it uses 12v to keep the gas valve open and the circuit board controls

7:10 --Not sure I'd want an exposed propane tank facing the ground. Seems like rocks could hit it while you're traveling.

Agreed..need a guard maybe? At least its not stored inside like some camper builds I’ve seen- hazardous flammable fumes potentially.

Hi Patrick. Great video and tour. Long term jersey vanner here. I really like the lockable stainless water door. I think it’s very important to protect our srinking water from weirdos. Can you share tour source for that door with the world?
@NewJerseyOutdoorAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Yes the door is available to purchase at Colonial RV. 1-800-265-9019
