As a MINI RC guy, I’m glad LOSI has released these! RTR basher Monster Trucks. Just what people have been asking for. And for what you get, the price is right. It’s not cheap but I’ve had to double the initial cost of a Scx24 to make it like this. I want BOTH (and maybe a KING SLING?)

Im glad you mentioned the price. The liscensing has to be the bulk of it. You can get an Arrma Gorgon for $170 rtr. I know its a bad comparison, but the price of this thing is really had to justify.

Kind of seems like the suspension is non-existent from this video. I know it's a 1/18 but when it lands it seems like it comes down hard and then bounces because the shocks don't absorb enough impact.

Yeah I was complaining until I saw it has all metal gears metal gear servo powder coated aluminum frame clip less body integrated roll cage real shocks. Also it’s a nice size not too small like that junky smasher thing. Also it’s light weight so it’s not breaking the body and whatever else first time you use it if ever.

The granite grom is $130….. also 1/18 scale and brushed…. And it’s a monster truck.. and it’s also fast for what it is.. I think I saw a speed test on it and it was more than 15mph

Good review . We appreciate you taking everything apart . Everyone loves Monster Trucks so Its good to see the resurgence . The Big Losi LMT was a bit to much for me so I did a Grave Digger conversion on my Arrma Big Rock that worked out well . Then I needed a 1/24 th scale Micro Grave Digger to match it so I modded an older Kyosho Mini Z Monster . This 1/18th scale will fit perfectly between them both . Just in time for Christmas too . Nice .

Slop in the 4 link suspension for better handling?!..... No.... People are always going on about wanting solid metal links on crawlers and desert racers with NO SLOP for better handling, not flimsy suspension like that. Nobody has ever said "my 4 links are too tight, I need more floppy side to side play in it for better handling" And the price?!... The hpi savage xs will be better quality than this for less money. Don't get me wrong, this truck looks brilliant. But in my opinion, I reckon if hpi released this exact same chassis, not as many people would care about it.

I didn’t say the slop was for better handling. I said the “triangulation of the links is for better handling” and unfortunately the slop is a bi-product of the link placement.

If there was just slightly more triangulation in there it would handle even better without making anything worse because the axles don't move side to side half as much. To be fair, I do understand that there's limited space in this trucks chassis, but that said, other companies have made mini monster trucks just as small or smaller with better suspension geometry. And again the price is crazy for what you get in the grand scheme of things, especially when the bigger, faster, stronger, better handling hpi savage xs is available for very similar money. (I'm sorry this one was a downer from me, I don't usually do this)

Honestly I think this is geared toward the smaller spaces to run like living room monster jams where brushless is to fast for. There’s tons of aftermarket brushless systems for 18th micros so can always convert if wanted

I think in 2023 the price is reasonable. I still have my 4WD converted 1/16 Traxxas Grave Digger, which is basically a 1/16 Traxxas Summit, which now retails for $250 (and is on back-order). Add in licensed body and licensed tires, and a newer design $300 seems fair. That said, I'll pass.

In Germany this Thing cost 299 Euros at Horizon Hobby at Pre-order. That means 320 Dollars. Is Losi crazy? Can't see where the worth is here. Not Brushless, no closed inner Differentials, Decals are Stickers on Side and Roof and the cheapest Rtr Radio I've ever seen. I'm out.

We want open diff on a Monster truck. There is plenty of locked diff builds you Can make. But this is the first time with straight axles and open diff at this scale. And it is awesome. Also it is full metal Gear and ball bearing, and real shocks. You don't fond this at this scale usually. It is a little bit expansive, but try to build one at this scale with same setup, and you will be over 350-400. Go brushless and you rather buy 1/10.

I remember paying $200 for an rc18t in 2007. Brushed, 74 MHz, nimh battery, open ball diffs and PURE PLASTIC. this has at leaat metal links, 4x4, oil filled shocks and a metal frame. I do wish it came with a nicer body, but throw in inflation and were getting more for out dollar now than we were 15 years ago in 1/18th scale.

There is no diff cups. The only way would be to lock it or weld it. Ear plugs will run through pretty quick

Just my opinions here but I believe for a Wider audience, gets people in the hobby such as youngsters or inexperienced people, Also more places to run it, and easy to take it along with you compared to a 1/10 or similar. It's a hobby, why limit it to only a certain scale?

Micros are large scales are in right now. Minis can be driven anywhere from living rooms to garages, so easier for most to run. Large scales are just cool with their weight and size. Imo 10th scale is becoming obsolete as the fun factor isn’t there for me with them anymore
